Like 401, there it's a must - but for JR I don't know, no blinking or anything like 401, if done wrong.

No the JR 490T(500t in the USA) does not have to be in HH to initialize. Just turn it on and do not move the heli until the servo moves the tail blades and it is ready to go.

The 401 memorizes the center pulse at bootup, the jr gyros assume them, thats why the drift needs to be subtrimmed out during setup.
