SBC problems

not sure if any of you have had this problem, but my internet provider appears to have done me out of some business. First noticed the problem that I couldn't send myself emails from work (a bank). Then, I started get calls from a client who wanted me to quote jobs for them. The showed me a series of 3 mails they sent me, but never got a reply. Finally, thankfully, they called.
I called SBC and they had put a 'restriction' on certain businesses as an anti spaming measure. I wonder how many jobs I lost. They told me they removed the blocks, but doesn't do me any good after it appears to my customers their emails were ignored. :arggg:

We had a similar problem with a small, local ISP in our region (we were not even on their network). It was a pain getting them to remove the block!

Try getting and using at least a Yahoo or Google free email account. At least this will present a solid front to your clients and any problems with the banks relationship with ISP's won't affect you.

A better idea would be to get a domain name and email together - but if not - the free emails would cover your bases against such things...
