Anyone have any experience with one of these? I just put one on my CapX and I was told you can run them without using a pump if you put the pitts muffler on and squeeze the ex ports down to about an eighth of an inch. I'd kinda like to hear from someone who's done it before I mash my new muffler?
Thoughts?
What they are trying to do is create a lot more back pressure inside the muffler,
then use that back pressure to pressurise the tank,
which will then force feed the carb...
Personally, I don't like this approach,
it's likely to knock off some performance and rpm off the engine.
The Pitt's muffler is purely for scale looks and sound,
it's not a great performing muffler,
and this mod will make things worse,
but you won't have to run a pump...
Why does this engine need a pump anyway?

I was thinking the same thing as far as performance goes. As far as needing a pump, I can't get it to idle on it's own. As long as you keep the rpm's up it will run fine but as soon as you back it down to an idle it simply doesn't have enough pressure to keep fuel in the line and it shuts down. Maybe it's just a tuning issue. This is the first time I've ever worked with an engine of this size so I'm in the learning curve. I know the manual doesn't say anything about needing a pump.

Hey Jafa, you were right, I don't need a pump. It was a tuning issue. The fella that had the engine before me was running a perry pump and didn't have the low speed needle turned out as far as I needed it. I turned it out one full turn and bingo, runs like a top!! No pump, no crimping needed. I have unlimited vertical! I love it. I've never had a model this big or this powerful and it's gonna take a little getting used to but I love it!!
