Why are they called Limited Editions there seem to be vast flocks (or is it gaggles) of them flying pretty much everywhere. They don’t seem to be manufactured in limited quantities. Are they improved versions of their predecessors? I have a 600NSP and a 700N. Are these LE versions superior?

Having just bought an "LE" 700, and comparing it to my "old" 700, apart from shiney new head etc, they are exactly the same.
I doubt they fly any different either. In fact, you gotta be blowing smoke out your pipe with the best of them to notice any difference.
The LE is a nice machine, but IMO, it was just a marketing ploy to boost sales due to the economy... Its "shiney" so i must have it!
Hats off to Align though... it certainly paid off... hence your comment about "gaggles" of them out there!

I agree, to me it doesn't seem very limited. So far I haven't read how much numbers they will make.

Gentlemen can I assume from your replies that all the parts are interchangeable? :dontknow
If so then it’s just new paint (or a lack thereof) that differentiates it from the non Limited Edition versions.

I only found 4 differences with the LE and the Pro...
1) Main gear mod (taller gear) to help with the stripping problem.
2) Tail grips were metal.
3) Head, bearing block, swash, aileron arms are silver instead of black.
4) Pined boom.
Everything else is the same that I saw.
Just put together a 700LE for a buddy so I've built both version now,
it had the same gear mod as my "old" 700. Also my "old" 700 had pinned boom.
Metal tail grips and shiny parts are the only difference I could see.
Maybe our "old" 700's with yellow canopy and black metal parts will be the more limited version in the end.

The only thing limited about the LE is align is Limiting it to as many as they can sell.:YeaBaby:
There is no real flying difference. The mentioned upgrades along with the silver parts. I saw a frineds 700le and really liked the silver so that helped me decide to go this route. Kind of dumb for me in the end, since I removed all the electronics blades etc from the kit to sell and replace with other gear.

It is the combo that is "limited" ie. electronics bundle ;)
There was supposedly 2000 kits of the 700 and 2000 of the 600 but I would hazard a guess that has been exceeded :D
The swash is no different other than colour and the hole in the boom block for pinning is on all new 600 and 700 kits.
The silver heads were always in the pipeline and I believe that they were originally going to be marketed as the ASJ version.

I am sure that the 2000 kits that were originally intended have by now had another 0 or two added to the tally.

The LHS said that his distributor said that they are not going to be available forever and will indeed be an actual limited edition.

I think Align simply liked the sound of "Limited Edition" without knowing what it meant at all.
