Well today i was able to put my first crash behind me. Not really upset but definetly bumed out. Worst part about it was i was at fualt 110%. I dont dare look at the damage just yet :-D. I have one Crash kit on hand but i know my damage is beyond that, also my reciever antenna got ripped out i think that may be the worst other then the Goquick Blades.

All part of the game!

The receiver antenna is a very easy fix. Any LHS or on line heli shop will have a precut length of antenna wire for less than $2 for your radio. If you can't find a precut length almost all 72mhz receiver antennas are one meter long. Futaba G3 receivers are one exception. You must have some soldering skill, but you don't have to be an expert. If your crash was very hard it may be a good idea to your receiver in for a checkup and have them install the antenna.

Sounds reasonable to me. Do you know a good place to send it for repair (JR equipment). Im in serious doubt my LHS will be any help. Most of my simple questions draw me blank stairs.

This will be my first Tear down. Any recommendations for items to just replace anyways or things to keep an eye out for? Any help is verry much appreciated.

Thanks Capebob!

How much damage you've done depends on how bad your crash was. Since you're new I'm guessing that you did a typical tip over with a boom strike. Since your blades are gone your spindle (feathering shaft) is probably bent. Also check and make sure your main shaft is OK. It takes quite a bit to bend a Raptor main shaft but believe me it can be done. :D If your main shaft is bent check your top main shaft bearing for any roughness. It should be OK but it can be damaged in a crash. Check all your ball links. They can look great but be cracked. If you got your tail boom check over your belt it is rare but it could have lost a tooth or two. Check your servos for broken gears. They are easily replaced.

Horizon Hobby is the U.S. distributer of JR products and I've had very good luck with their service. It's been my experience that they are fast and reasonably priced.

It was more like Fall out of the sky from getting out of inverted flight with Curves set incorrectly . It looks like My main and tail gears are all in tact and look to be in good condition. I know for a fact im in need of Skids Rear fame set, fan casing, servo tray, tail supports and a boom, Main grip set, some ball link end. Im a little nervous taking that head apart in hopes its put back together correctly.

But ill give it a shot!

Thanks

http://www.radiosouthrc.com may have better turn around time than Horizon, check them out, call both and ask, I'm sure the labor rate is similar.

Well my Feathering shaft isn't bent but is definitely scored and has a pretty rough fit on the hub pin. Im assuming i should just replace both of these items. The main shaft looks good to me, I feel nothing out of the ordinary as far as bearings wise. My Dampening bushings are a redish orange color, which differ from my crash kit ones. Do they differ in stiffness? if so what is the part number on the current bushings i have? Should i do a new set of bearings for the grips? Also can i use a high temp wheel bearing grease for reassembly of the main a feathering ETC? or should i just get some on my parts order.

Thanks for the help
