OK this is the place for the Century Swift build videos.

Upgrades! Upgrades! Gotta love the BLING :)

Swift upgrade videos below. These are new and added 11/22/06

First up:
Installing the 3rd bearing block upgrade
VIDEO -> Installing the 3rd bearing block upgrade (44 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=3rdbearing1.wmv)

Installing the metal motor mount and top bearing block upgrades. This might be worth watching as there are some "gotchas"
VIDEO -> Installing metal motor mount bracket and top bearing block upgrades(55 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=motormount.wmv)

Uugrade Swash plate and Washout mixer arms. The upgraded swash is interesting and I had to call Adam Turner to get the scoop!
VIDEO -> Installing swash plate and washout mixer arm upgrades (42 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=swasharms.wmv)

Swift Build videos below

First up:
Whats in the box!
VIDEO -> What's in the box!! (18 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=inthebox.wmv)

VIDEO -> Manual and Overview (9 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=overview.wmv)

Building the head in 3 parts. Note, I am covering a LOT more detail than I have in previous vids I have done. Also the resolution has been increased. Thus file sizes are larger and steps are broken into more parts. I hope you all like it! Feedback is always welcome
VIDEO -> Head build part 1 (36 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=headpart1.wmv)

VIDEO -> Head build part 2 (50 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=headpart2.wmv)

NOTE!!! If you donwloaded this vid before 10/4/2006 then you are missing the update with the manual error. This vid corrects the error in the seesaw build.
VIDEO -> Head build part 3 (55 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=headpart3.wmv)

The Frames is next!
VIDEO -> Putting the frames together (63 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=frames.wmv)

VIDEO -> Main Gear, Shaft, and bearing install. Some good tips here I think! (40 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=mainshaftngear.wmv)

Tail is next.... I am doing things out of order of the manual as trust me... You will like it better! I found it is almost impossible to assemble the tail case AFTER the boom and tail drive areas are assembled. This is because the tail case goes INSIDE the boom. Note that the belt is not always shown installed in the vids but be sure to install it in the tail case as I note!.

VIDEO -> Tailcase, tail hub, etc build (70 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=tailcase.wmv)

VIDEO -> Tail Drive and tail assembly (59 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=taildrive.wmv)

Picking the correct servo wheels! Folks this is super important to understand how Century set up the CCPM on this heli. Getting the correct servo wheels is super important!
VIDEO -> Choosing servo wheels that WORK! (35 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=servowheels.wmv)

Servo Install... some good tips I hope!
VIDEO -> Installing the servos (20 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=servoinstall.wmv)

Servo Setup and centering!
VIDEO -> Setting up the radio and servos (51 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=servosetup.wmv)

Servo links
VIDEO -> Making all the links and setup up of the servo links (20 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=servolinks.wmv)

Head setup! WOW was this an interesting head to get setup right!
VIDEO -> Full head setup! (70 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=headsetup.wmv)

Setup of the tail servo and gyro!
VIDEO -> Tail Servo and Gyro (401) setup (50 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=tailsetup.wmv)

Motor and pinion install
VIDEO -> Motor & pinion installation (20 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=motorinstall.wmv)

Electronics Placement. NEW added 11/22/06 I completely forgot I had shot this and had not posted it.
VIDEO -> Electronics Placement and Install (33 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=electronics.wmv)

The Maiden flight!
VIDEO -> Maiden flight of the Swift (35 megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/swift&filename=maiden.wmv)

TJ, since you have a TON MORE experience than I, be sure to help me along should I make some mistakes :)

Users are one of the biggest sources of GREAT info and getting a heli running right!
My vids are "planned" to be done as Century would have you build it but I am willing to add tips and give users credit as I move along and in fact I am looking FORWARD to it!

Hey, you are doing a Swift build? Nice to see, so I can make an even better comparison what my next heli will be: T-Rex 600 or Swift. Great! :cool:

Bob, do you take requests for videos? If you do the Swift build provides the perfect opportunity to fill the request.

Now for the request, can you add a video at the end of the build series can you add a video that details the final setup steps before the first flight(s) and a methodology for tweaking and trimming the heli for "predictable" flight.

Thanks

staplegun, I always do that in my vids.
Servo and CCPM setup, head and pitch setup, etc.
Is that what your asking for?

Bob, I am not looking for radio, servo, ccpm setup. What I am looking for is something that gives the over view of going from a Bench setup (servo,ccpm, etc) unflown hele to a flight worthy field tested hele. IE the stuff that some of us would take our newly built hele to the LHS for final tweaks (if the LHS provides that service.)

The same process would apply also if you had to re-build your hele after you managed to turn it into a pile of parts as the result of lets say a unique landing situation.

Well from my experience if the heli is setup on the bench properly the only FINAL tweaks are the throttle curves to adjust head speed and maybe a little trimming.

But I will film first flights and show what I do to make final adjustments....

Thanks - that's what I was looking for.

Hey bob...

I am by far no expert on building, but I will help out on anything I can. Granted 2 swifts sure has made me understand the swift much more. Especially after I(yes me) plowed the wife's in at full steam ahead. I had to rebuild from the ground up. mainly because I wanted everything to be perfect.

If anything-- you have taught me a great deal about heli's. I built my first Trex before your videos, The second trex was after your videos. It came out perfect from the get go... :noteworthy

Finless,
Can you give me a link to where a video that has been posted is that shows the correct way to solder the leads of a battery to the connector? I have a MX400 and a couple of my flying buddies told me to look at this site.

Hi Bob.

Is there a poblem with Part 3 of the head build?

I get the following message when trying to open the link:

File does not exist please contact the systems administrator

Thanks once again for all the time and effort.

Yea I pulled it for the time being while I fix it because of the error in the manual and thus an error in the video!
DANG I hate errors in the manual when I am filming vids!!

Anyway I am compressing now so it should be back up in about an hour.

Sorry,
Bob

Tail case build is up....

Tail drive and tail assembly is up... For ease of video I will leave the tail off and do cyclic servo install, setup, electronics, etc and come back and do mounting the tail assembly to the frames.
