I've asked several people about altitiude hold, but don't know if I asked angelo. mostly, I think using something like zlog with ap2000i, we could have simple setup that can do altitude hold.

in airplane, we already have simple gps/auto pilot in sub 1000 buck configuration with altitude hold. u-nav has one, as well as maxxproduct. (made by bta) http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-16.html I do think price on heli version of auto pilot will come down due to competition.

I think magic price point is 2000 bucks. if we can have sub 2k strip down carvec type system, you will sell a lot. also, there will be place for 90/gasser size for video/movie system, but I agree that for most people, 50size will more than suffice.

I'm in agreement with Gary. While it's not nerves making me want to move smaller, the cost savings possible using a smaller machine is what intrigues me. Why risk your heavy gasser/electric when a lighter platform will accomplish the same task.

Won't be necessary when Angelos releases the FL-180 :D

A gentleman has contacted me about making a GPS equipped system that will be way sub 2K. He made me swear not to tell anyone who he is, but he is definitely working on something. He is an engineer in an electronics field and a very experienced heli guy. It will be very interesting to see if he actually does come up with something. I think he is flying the AP2000i now and has experience with the NRI and other setups first hand.

Time will tell.

I am also with Gary and Mark on the smaller and quieter much less obtrusive setups.
