What do you guys think about the Hyperion 80A OPTO Brushless ESC (w/o BEC). Their motors look good any input about their ESC's. Thanks

Ryan Wichey started out with one and he experienced the same issues that Rob is talking about.

I ran the Hyp 80 esc for a while, ran fine on throttle curves. I had tail glitches , but traced down the problem to the Medusa bec. Once I switched to the Ubec, I had no more glitches on JR pcm rx.

What I didn't like was the ramp up on governor mode. Once you got up to hover rpm, governor did a good job, but you have to raise throttle very slowly. You can't just flip to Idleup or you'll strip a main gear.

That's why I went with Jazz 55-10-32. Love the smooth ramp up !

Which Medusa bec did you have?

I fooled around with one and three things I didn't like. One; The govenor mode idol up was stiff and could strip gears and lacked the settings I needed for a 8 pole motor [ I needed a higher setting to make it work, TWO; It ran HOT for no reason, I double checked the Pole count and timing settings and looked over everything twice and still to hot to touch after 5 minutes flight. THREE last but not least it would lose the settings if you where not presidential at plugging in a new battery, too many times when I was out in the feild I would spike the voltage twice trying to connect the battery and WAP!! The esc whent into program mode then would reset itself to manufacturer standards with out my knowledege till I got air born then, turn the left stick down just a little too fast and WAM!! the brakes for the motor would come on for a short spit, then I knew there was something wrong.

I got tired of bringing my laptop computer and checking the settings every time I changed a battery with caffeine nerves wiggling my rist at the time.
I am using a cc35 with a separate bec and running 4 cell packs, everything is cool to the touch even the motor now. The settings do not default to manufacturers if I tap the power terminals twice before successfully plugging in the battery. I expected more from a 110 dollar esc then that.

It ran HOT for no reason

Mine ran very cool on Hacker and Hyp motors. I was draining 3000 mah in 6 minutes typical flight.
Barely noticable temp change.
I had no program mode problems either.
You probably got a defective esc. The esc is either programmed manually with throttle stick and tones or with Hyp e-meter, which is very easy to use.

Running a hyperion 3025-10 with cc80 and a hyperion 4s 4350. Motor temps are reaching upwards of hi 170s.If I recall finless did pack temps and findings were around 150. maybe my esc settings are way off (timing)
any feedback would help..

Try stuka's fan for that hyperion motor, it's good for atleast a 20 F reduction.

have 4s 3700 same motor and jazz80, also about 150 ...

any 411 on stuka's fan?
in defense of medusa research, have had no issue with my setup using their becs.
hyp 3025-10 ,hyp 4s 4350, cc80.but in no way have I pushed the limits to this equipment, very basic flight..

Xircom or anyone else,

Can you tell me your exact settings of the CC80 for the Hyperion Z3025-10 motor, timing and the rest of the options in CastleLink.. Thanks...

I'm using the Hyperion TITAN 80A HI-PRO Brushless 4A Cool SBEC ESC. It works great!! I haven't had any issues with it. I did install the Hyperion Heat Sink on it to help with cooling. I also put a 22 tooth pinion on my Hyperion motor to get the head speeds down so I wasn't limiting the head speeds with my throttle curve.

Can you give me more details as of what setup you have ? such as motor model, battery etc... also details on flight time and power with the 22 tooth pinion.
Thanks

I'm using the Hyper ESC, The Hyperion 3025-10 motor, TP 4S 3850 batteries, Great power with the 22tooth, not sure on flight time, I never timed it out.
