As I was rebuilding from most recent crash I was checking every nut and bolt. To my surprise I found the little 3MM bolt that goes into the skid bar where the landing gear connects loose. Funny place, in all my preflights I've never even considered that little bolt.
Also I think it was PaulH who was stumped on why during a rebuild one side of the long pitch arms were shorter then the other side. I also discovered this when setting up after a crash and I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I got everything done and checked the bell mixer arms at mid pitch. The instructions say both arms must be horizontal so the heli will react the same way through the pitch curve. I noticed mine were not the same. One was level and the other was pitched down. What I found was that the blade grip pitch arm connected to the blade grip was different on one side. Not by much, but still different. I must have caused a slight cock when I crashed last. I fixed the problem by removing the bolts and resetting the arm back on the blade grip. The I had to lengthen the pitch arm and shorten the hiller push rod to get a level bell mixer arm with matching pitch on both blades. So now the washout arms and bell mixer arms are parallel and level at mid stick (zero pitch)
