Some pics of a "special request" from a customer for a 2 hour flight time ability.
I installed 2 ea 64 oz tanks, "T"'d into the standard 32 oz tank.

Yes, that says 34 Lbs 15 oz ready to fly with ballast weight in place of the camera!!
But, does it fly??

I am impressed. definitely long flight special. :)

Do you have to have "shifts" of pilots to fly it

Where is the HUGE RX pack for that bad boy. Man that is a LOT of fuel!! Cool pics!!
Now maybe this is a very good application for a Raja Generator???

Yeah, no kidding. Or solar panels...you know those blades are big enough

at least the excitment goes up as the fuel goes down!

A bird like this would be a good candidate for some kind of stabilization system, or better yet, an autopilot.

What a BEAST...I love it. Next step the 3 hour bergen with two 2L pop bottles strapped to the side

Hmmm. Think I can pull enough out of one of those to keep my 10s5000 topped up?
(No, I'm not serious, before anyone thinks otherwise...)

Yup... add a stabilizer and a generator and you're set. And maybe a couple pots of coffee standing by...

simple generator made from a small brushless motor turned with power from the main engine would work well. as long as engine is running, you will be topping off the batteries. with all that gasoline though.

Why not drop a fuel hose to a truck...unlimited duration!

Where's the inflight video? :)

Howdy,
Yup ... a Jewel Generator would look good on that bird ... but ... for some unknown reason ... ya can't get a mount from either Chris or Raja ... go figure? Personally, I had to fall back on Century ... and order a Predator part to fix a Bergen ... now ain't that a shame?
Whadda ya say there Chris?

Raja told me that he's found that his predator mount will work on our Bergen's. Of course, you've got to drill the holes but it supposedly fits between the frames.

Howdy Mark,
Ya ... that's right ... I ordered the Pred mount from Raja and promised that I'd put a bug in Chris's ear ... now I've done it.. I really don't mind poking another hole or two into a Bergen ... but it would be nicer to have one that dropped right in.
B'sides ... we don't get that many opportunities to ***** about Bergen ... this thread seemed like the ideal spot.

Hey Chris,
Would your customer mind if we asked you what they're doing that needs 2 hours of flight time? I know after 20 minutes, I'm ready for a break!

I do have inflight video, just have to figure out how to get it posted. Maybe put it on youtube.
There are additional add ons going into this bird, I'm sure.
There was no way I was going to test it for the full 2 hours, though. I did all the inital test flights without all that fuel, then added them on last. I wondered how it would handle all that weight up high, but it was almost anti-climactic. A little more pitch, a little more RPM, and up she came. Just as steady as before.

Chris,
Unless you were doing aerobatics it doesn't surprise me that you didn't notice the higher CG. I did wonder if your needle settings were a little leaner due to the extra net positive head from the elevated tanks though!

Good catch Wendell!!
That was also a concern, but the effect was very minimal. I think the cooler temp we had here the day I flew with all that fuel had a bigger effect than the gravity fed fuel.....
The two may have canceled each other out.
Also, with a larger payload, we have learned that it's necessary to richen the needles slightly, so again the net effect was minimal changes needed.
