View Full Version : Gyro set-up in normal mode

So I set-up the gyro as per manual, 90deg to links both servo and tail slider, and also correct distance for servo (10mm) and tail slider (given). In HH mode, no problem at all - but in normal mode, the heli turns slowly. Now I've read, that trim is good for HH, but trim in normal mode destroys the HH setting again, so what to do ? The sensitivity is already very high. Thanks a lot,

In normal, adjust the link to achieve a stable hover with no trim. Then flip on to HH and all should be good. Trim in HH should also be centered. The gyro will adjust for any drift.

thanks, but when I adjust the link - then it's not 90deg to the pitch slider anymore ? means shorter distance one way than the other ? :?:

You shouldn’t be messing with the trim in HH mode the gyro will take care of it. In normal mode dose the amount of drift change with throttle/pitch inputs? (This is fixed with Revo mix).

Set the linkage so that it doesnt drift in rate mode with the servo arm at 90 degrees and no trim or sub trim.
Make sure your rudder end points are 100/100
Set your transmitter to rate mode (light out)
Set the limit pot so that the pitch slider does not bind in either direction, it may move more one way than the other, thats fine.

If you are using a JR Gyro first adjust the sub trim so there is no drift in HH. Then put your links on so they are 90 degrees.
Then set your limit pot so it does not bind.
Now hover the heli in rate mode and adjust the rod lenght to stop any rotation.
Then go back and reset the limit pot so it does not bind in either direction.

Geeze I'm so used to people asking 401 questions I didn't even catch that.

What gyro?

Me too. Funny how you just default to what YOU use!!

have 401, and nothing to do with revo, it happens during normal hover. so if I understand you guys right, then the only way to play in rate/normal mode, is adjusting the rod length, which means, that make it shorter or longer (depending which direction the heli drifts) to stop does change also the initial setting of 90 degrees for the tail side, I assume the servo side stays the same, as in normal mode the servo centers when putting hands off the transmitter and you will see something slightly different than 90 degrees on the tail slider side after init.

That is correct. You really don't need equal travel as the torque from the rotation of the blades will help to turn you in one direction. Doing this reduces the load (and current usage) of the tail servo in straight forward flight as the servo remains centered as long as there is no force exerted sideways on the tail.
