I have a Align Trex 450XL on its way to me and Im curious if you cant store the heli in the case then what is it for. I prob could have saved $20 if the case wasnt included lol.

You can use the small case for spare parts.

Currently using mine for spare repair parts. I have thought about some different foam and using for my target shooting handguns. Doesn't look quite so much like a regular handgun case. I'd have to add a locking hasp to it to be on the safe side.

Will the radio fit into the ALU case? And why do some TREX come with the case and others dont?

HeliDan,
All TRex *kits* come packed in a small ALU case inside the outer cardboard box. This case is a neat touch but too small to store the heli oonce it is built and too small for a Tx.
There is a separate large ALU TRex case that you can buy which has a precision cut foam insert that holds a TRex, most standard Tx and has some slots for a few tools and batteries.

Some clever folks have found that they can use hard-shell bow (as in bow-and-arrow) cases. There was a recent thread about moding one to use as a case for a Swift with the canopy and blades on. Seems innovative. Of course a quick online search and it seems those cases are around $250 so you have to *really* want one.

I use my small case for my Picco Z....I have all the extra AA batteries, transmitter and helicopter fit into the case with some foam around it.

:dontknow How about placing your batteries in it when they are being charged? Just an idea. might be better than on a wood work bench.
