I'd like to get a flight sim with a Transmitter (not real) can someone recommend one that has a T-Rex 450XL model.

Realflight G3. There are models on there that fly like the TRex, but not a TRex specifically. G3 is plug-n-play with it's own controller.

You may want to check out a Reflex XTR. I love mine! I have found over 10 TREX downloads for free. I kind of like using my transmitter so i am used to the feel.
only have read 1 down fall. For the interface cable, you need to open the splice where it changes from USB to your TRX input and check the solder joints on the pins. I have read about 3 instances were the wires were loose and caused a diode inside the TRX burn. The radios are not damaged to bad, only need the diode replaced and are good as new.
On the JR trx, when you plug in, you dont have to turn on your TRX, it comes on at a reduced voltage and not in the transmit mode. I can use mine for a week without having to recharge.

FSone is JUNK! pass on it and get XTR or G3.

They both have great graphics (G3 and Reflex) but the reflex does not come with a tx, you have to use your own. The G3 comes with a tx and it's not bad, you can also hook up your own tx to the G3 by plugging in your tx to the back of the G3 tx (like a buddy box). You can also fly with 2 people at the same time that way.

ClearView is great value for money, about 80% as good as G3/XTR/Phoenix IMO and you can get a controller with it if you like.
PreFlight is junk IMO so stay away from it, but you can download the demo and see for yourself.

Phoenix is a new member in the list of options..

Though I've not seen it, have read some favorable things.

I just got my Phoenix Simulator a week ago (www.phoneix-sim.com), and all I can say is WOW! I had Relfex XTR and Aerofly Pro Deluxe before this one, and basically Pehonix supasses them both! It has all the nice features of XTR and APFD, and then a host of other features added on top of that. The physics engine is also UNREAL! There are helicopters there that perfrom EXACTLY like my Trex 450 SE does. I have recently upgraded to the T-rex 600, and even for that they have more than one model matching my exact setup out of the box...
If I can give anyone some advice, it would be to get Phoenix. It's really been worthwhile for me, and, technically, it's the cheapest one of the three (XTR, AFPD and Phoenix). The graphix are awesome, the physics engine is outstanding, and the user friendlyness had me flying in less than 5 mintues! :D
It's definately the way to go! (IMO)
Cheers

Johan,
What PC are you running Phoenix on (cpu, ram, graphics card) ?

Hi kgfly,
I have a Fujitsu-Siemens E-series laptop. It runs a 2Ghz centrino processor, 2GB of ram, and an ATI 9600 128mb dedicated screen card, and it doesn't struggle at all, even at resolutions up to 1280 x 1024, with all the graphics set to the max!
And because it's a laptop, I take my cable with to work, so I get at least an hour's sim time every day! LOL!
I also have it installed on my other machine (and old P4 2Ghz machine, with a Gforce 4 460oTI screen card, with 512mb ram), and it even runs fine on that, so in terms of cpu and stuff, I think it doesn't require too much :D

Great thanks for the info. I've just sold my copy of Reflex and I see a Phoenix rising from its ashes

kgfly, did you have a problem with XTR, or is Phoenix just better. So far, for the price, XTR is the best I have seen. :?: :dontknow

No problems with XTR, but it is about 50% more expensive than Phoenix and has been somewhat static for a while. I have been impressed by what I have seen and heard of Phoenix so decided to give it try.
XTR pushes my laptop (Dell600, PentiumM 1.8GHz/2GB ram/Radeon9000M 32MB) to the limit. I was getting quite OK performance but very short battery life. I think Phoenix may be less power hungry which would be another advantage.
All excuses really, I just want to try something new

kgfly; Something new I can definitly relate to. Luckly, I have just purchased a new lap top with simulators in mind. My new Acer, WOW, Is all I can say. Running XTR I can fly for almost 3 hours on 1 battery with great graphics. Its a new style processor that only Acer has right now called Celaron Duo, Forgive the spelling! Its the Beez Neez in laptops, just a little heavy and costly, about $2000.00. And the screen is not that damed shiny screen either. If anyone can afford it, Highly recomended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
