Ok. I have and been using A123's on my big gasser planes and even have a 3s on my trex 450 but I am wanting to use them for my receiver and servos on my Trex 600 nitro with an Align 2 in 1. I have cells left over and was wondering how to configure them and how many to use. Can I use them with them using a Inertia Nano Gyro or and do I need to use a step down voltage regulator for the gyro? Im using the align servos for the heli and not sure if I can use A123's with them or not. I know I can use the spectrum receiver with them. Thanks in advance.

I have used A123's for receivers in planks and my 600n. Now I'm using a Hyperion Lifepo4 as a receiver battery on the 600n since it weigh's less but it is the same voltage.. I don't use a regulator at all but I do use the diode step down for the 8900 tail servo. Spectrum and V-Bar don't mind the voltage and there's no regulator to fail.

See your location is Neworleans. Do you fly at NOMAC? I was out there this morning. :)

I run the 2 in 1 mainly just for the glow pug ignitor. Wondering if I should just try to use a 2s 2300 mah A123 pack. I should be ok right? I was living in Gulfport for several years and then move here. I still fly there as it was and is my fist club. Its kind of a drive but its not to bad and gets me out of the area.

I also have an Align 5.1 step down regulator. Can I use this to step down the voltage to the gryo and tail servo while using 2s A123 2300 battery pack? I know the receiver can handle it. If I use it, it goes in between the receiver and the Gyro right? Im using a Spartan DS760 Gyro on my 600N. I

Thing about the A123 and other LifePo packs is they have considerable voltage drop under load. Its really about like a 5 cell nickle pack.
Spartan gyros can be ran at 8v so 6v is not a problem. Its only the tail servo that requires less and that is where I run the diode step down, from the gyro to the tail servo. So you only need to regulate the tail servo although I'm not familure witht he nano gyro.

I avoid regulators and even power switches on my heli's. Weigh's less and less to fail.

Well if your ever looking for a close field with dedicated plank and heli areas: http://www.nomacrc.com/

+1, I use an A123 2300mAh with a y cable. Two power leads to the AR7000. I wanted to make sure I have enough amps for the 8717 servos:)

So, I should be good with the 2S 2300 A123 battery and the Align 5.1 step down regulator between the gyro and tail servo. I should be able to still use the 2 in 1 like normal also right? Just want to make sure before I do something stupid.

I guess I don't get the question. Are you using the A123 with the 2 in 1 for receiver power or just for glow starter? I don't know if you can use A123 with the 2 in 1 regulator. You might want to contact Align. I use it only for glow starter and run direct A123 leads to the receiver.

Sorry about the confusion, Going to use the 2 in 1 for just the glow power function and run the receiver off that A123s
