That is a 504 canopy, probably the original "sport" FG canopy, complete with windshield cutout. To replace it you would need to purchase a 504 canopy and then cut it down, be sure to ask that the "sport markings" be placed on the canopy so you have an idea where to cut.

It is an early version of the 0504-1.
The later version side panels extended more towards the rear of the mechanics.

This is the later version

Can I still get a 0504-1??? DavidH, the canopy in the link you provided (0504-5)sure looks just like my crashed one to me... It's going on an X-Cell 60 Custom (1003).

Does anyone have any pics of a 0504-1 for comparison? Google search turned up nothing. Wish there was a place to try 'em on like a pair of pants to see if they'll fit :arggg:

0504-5 is the same canopy as 0504-1.
The difference being the sides are longer.
Yes 0504-5 will fit an Xcell Custom. Provided it has the mounting hardware for the fiberglass already installed. The mounting hardware for the F/G canopy consists of of two mounting posts. One mounts on each side. These have threads in the end for thumbscrews to secure the canopy. The other mounting post goes in the center on the top, there is no threaded hole in it for thumbscrews.

If you 0504-5 to be the same as 0504-1. You just trim the longer sides off on each side.

Thanks for your help. I guess the only thing left I don't understand is why I would want to order the 0504-5 and trim/customize it, if the 0504-1 will fit like my old one right out of the box. As is now, I am running YS/Hatori combo and there is only a few mm between the anterior part of the pipe and the rear of the canopy in the pics. Can one still get the 0504-1?

Sorry to be a PITA, just that it's hard without one in front of me to inspect... and thanks again for the help.

No the 504-1 is not made in the short version anymore.
The mold was modified and the sides became longer,
That is what 0504-5 is now.

Here is the plan sheet for the CT 60. This model was basically an aluminum version of the SE. They both used the same canopy 0504-5.

If you notice in the drawing. The sides are short on the canopy like the 0504-1.
The reason being. There was diagrams in the instruction manual showing how to shorten the sides on 0504-5.

David is the the resident Miniature Aircraft Guru.
Jason, it only takes a few minutes with a dremel to reshape the canopy.
We can do the shaping, and get it sent to Rick for paint unless you want to talk Tim into painting it.
