OK...there's been a lot of talk about castle link settings and firmware.

What are you using and why?

I'm using 1.53b because I wanted the 1.51+ heli changes and there were several fixes from 1.51 and 1.52 in -3.

My settings are:

Basic
30v cutoff (10s lipo)
Soft Cutoff
Governor High
(the following 3 settings for brakes should have no effect)
0% brake
.6 delay
Immediate ramp

Advanced:
Motor Start power: 39 (low)
Throttle Response: 5 (medium)
Timing: Standard
13khz PWM
Current limiting: Normal

Governor Gain High (80)
Spool-up Speed: Medium (5)

Spoolup takes approximately 22 seconds to hit flight speed.

Anything I'm doing wrong here?

For heli's you should disable the cutoff. Set it to like custom 4.0 V.

Fly by a timer. You don't want the esc bringing you down because you hit a high lvc.

I think everything else seems right.

Scott:

Appreciate the input. I do fly based on timer and not to LVCO.

I set it as it is in case my flight pack partially dumped or something. That'd be 3 volts/cell for me which is waaaaay lower than I fly them.

Only thing I didn't mention is that my mode 1 switch gives me a flat 100% curve. I need every rev I can get out of it.

I need to get an rf choke (magnet) for my ESC...I'm suddenly wondering if some situations I've seen were me getting glitched out since I currently just have my pcm just set to hold and not failsafe to anything. On 2, perhaps 3 occasions it just seemed as if it stopped responding to me for a second. If I were failsafing to 0 throttle, and these were in fact lockouts, I have zero doubt the situations would've ended in an expensive crash.

I've always heard that current limiting should be inhibited, what motor are you using? I'm curious to hear from others on this setting.

Here's what the Phx HV-45 in my Logo 10 is set to:

One of the reasons I basically disable the LVC is that you can actually trip this with a quick yank on the sticks with the pack more than halfway discharged. I see that I still have the current limiting function enabled. I need to disable this as well. Neither of these functions should be used with helicopters.

You can set the "Spool Up" setting to "High", as it will still take about 13 seconds to spool up to 100%. This has nothing to do with the infamous "Castle Kick", which is eliminated by setting "Motor Start Power" to "Low".
