Yeah, I managed to cut my losses before it got too bad, but I still think i'm between 400-500 for Blade CP + upgrades.
It seems now that for less than 500 I could have a complete HDX300 and I'd probably be much happier.
I've dropped the blade pursuite myself and I've got my Swift 16 on the bench now. I friend let me borrow his venture 30 and I must say that size does matter. It's a much better helicopter and now I can't wait to get on to my own full size heli.
Jev I agree the cp experince has been OK at best. thank god I decided to step up to t-rex 600 ..

is a t-rex a better choice for a beginner than a cp pro?

rfalls86,
From everything that I hear, yeah. The guy at the local hobby store even tells me that it is cheaper to fix the t-rex depending on the crash of course. I have even been told that they are a lot more stable to fly.
Almost every where I read they say the Blade CP is a very tough helicopter to learn to fly on. Of course there will be 8 people who say it is tough, then 2 that say it is perfect and they loved it. So it is a tough call.
Of course, this is only from what I have read. I do not have experience to draw upon expect the CP that I am fixing at the moment.
Shrug, who knows but I wish I would have just got some form of a T-Rex instead. Would have saved me money in the long run.

Craig and Rick:
The TREX is more stable, but it's also more powerful and easier to get into trouble quick with. There is NO WAY that a STOCK CP/CP Pro is going to cost more to fly/fix then a TREX. TREX Parts are reasonable, but they are a lot more complicated, so there are more things to break, and they usually break in sets.
TREX 600 is going to costs even more. So, as I said, fly the heck out of your CPs, enjoy the simplicity and cheap parts. Then move up to the REX. But, hey its a free country and it's your money, so if you want to jump right in on the REX, no one is stopping you. ;-)
I have two TREX450s an upgraded XL and a SE. But I fly my CP Pro at least half the time, and I had a plain CP before that. I can do pathetic rolls and loops with the CP Pro, and FFF and it's lots of fun. I can fly in a little park by my house without intimidating myself or the neighbors.
The REX is a much more sophisticated machine. I can do FFF, but I'm not ready for aerobatics with it yet (but soon). I have to have a larger area to fly this in, as it moves very fast, and it would certainly do some damage if it hit someone or something.
I'm hopeing for a 600 for Christmas. They all have their pros and cons. But honestly, you can have a lot of fun with a CP without spending a fortune.
Cheers!

is the cp the right heli to train on? im having a hell of a time trying to even get up for 10 seconds without breaking something... i dont know why but it seems too hard to be true...and then my LHS guy took my heli for a spin and it was pro...it just sat there and didnt move...and i was in awe...but should i go to something else to train on so i can actually hover?

rfalls86,
Many of us who learned with the bcp or bcpp used Radd's School of Rotary Flight : http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html Take it seriously, and you will have a VERY good chance of learning to hover. I know, it seems silly, but, IT WORKS!

Honestly, I am still learning myself. I stopped flying after my last crash, mostly because I had to think too much on which way to go to keep it level. Then I spent a lot of time on the simulator and I can now hover in all directions w/o having to think about it (lots of trouble with nose in). So I think that will save me a lot of coin. I just can’t say enough about a simulator. I can’t wait to get my bcpp fixed and up again.
I think I will be able to hover now but of course we will see. :)
