When holding the main gear on the PMax and twisting the tail rotor...how much movement should there be?....if i hold the main gear and grab the tail rotor and try and turn it,im getting around an 1/8th of a turn on the tail rotor before it stops....thats from one extreme to the other, clockwise then counterclockwise....if its not normal then how do i get rid of that slop?

Thanks in advance

it is a bit normal. i have had the same problem. i had 2 tail bumps and it seemed to get worse. it would up being about 4mm of play back and forth then the 560 gyro that i was useing wouldn't hold it. i had to replace the gears, but i had another complete gearbox setting around and found out that it also had a small amount of play, very little though..

Thanks pepper....the tail still seems to be holding good...im running the 601 gyro....ill see about getting another tail gear set and see if that straightens out the problem....i need to put the SS torque tube in anyway....im still running the carbon tube.....ive heard of failures with the carbon tube

their have been a few fail but not many.. with the 560, it will not conpensate for slack in the tail, well, maybe a little.. the 601 will take care of it, i wound up going back to the 601 after the 560 micro troubles and the problem was fixed.

2 things here. One the gears are helical which means one way they will
tighen up the other they seem to loosen. Two my CF TT has alot of flex
in it too.

These 2 things together make it feel like a lot of play but mine has
been like this since day one.

bad type of metal for the tail gear.. i think it is being fixed for the newer kits.

I found why i was getting so much play in the tail guys....it was way more than 4mm.....i took the tail gearbox apart today and found the set screws on the tail gear that goes on the output shaft had come loose.....i took the setscrews out and put locktight on them and put them back in..TIGHT....i now have the "normal" 4mm of play.....much better than my inch to inch and a half......thanks for all your input
