just got myself a new aircraft...... not for AP but no reason AP can't be done from it ;) kinda stoked and had to share.

a 1946 Taylorcraft BC12-D. My cousin is selling it to me. It's a joy to fly. I get to fly it when I visit him. This is the same aircraft that "dreslim" (Scott) let me take him up for a ride in back in August. Now wasn't that a fun ride Scott? ;)

Now I need to find a ferry pilot to fly it from Indiana to AZ.

There's a bracket on top of the vertical stabilizer that is for a beacon light which this aircraft is not equipped with, but it's the perfect place to mount an HD video camera with wide angle lens.... also on the struts is another great spot for a camera. When this deal goes through I'll be mounting up the cameras and shooting some low level canyon/river runs!

The airport by my house is Class D (control tower) and this aircraft has no electrical system so I'll need to carry a handheld comm radio and GPS would be helpful.... nothing a 4s 6600 FlightPower pack on a regulator won't fix!!

Sweet!

Congratulations. Last year I sold my RV-6a that I had built (N106RV). Man I miss that plane :(

I saw a video that a couple of guys made flying their Rans Coyote's down to Cancun. They mounted a video camera out on the struts that they could control from the cabin. They had some awesome footage flying along the beach's in Mexico practically skimming the sand and waves.

The FAR's don't apply in Mexico!

Dang, I was looking forward to coming back out next August and going for a ride again when you were in town!

Now I'll have to come out to AZ to get a ride!

Hey that sounds like a good idea right about now since it's 32 outside today and we had our first snowfall yesterday!

Video would be sweet from that thing! Especially the HD.

When we went for a spin last time it was very spur of the moment, but as soon as I said yes, my mind was racing as we were getting ready to go; I was seeing if I could picture any duct tape in my car to tape my pocket cam in video mode to a strut or something for the flight.

In the second picture, the plane kinda looks like a giant scale model taking off. :D

Nice plane DJ! That's exactly the aircraft I was trying to convince my husband to buy when we set out to build an RV-7.

Way cool!!! Enjoy it.

Those T-crates are sweet little birds for just tooling around arent they. It just kills me how low the things will idle after you hand prop them. You can literally see each blade turning.
A friend of mine was telling me he went out on a windy day and would take off, pull the power back and slowly go backwards till he could make the landing, touch the wheels on the ground and then go around again.
No sense ruining a good story with the truth.

N43122 arrived last Saturday after a 4 day journey. My ferry pilot had to stop numerous times due to some nasty headwinds. 25 flight hours and 4 days later it's now in Mesa, AZ!

What's great is the airport assigned me a tie-down spot on a ramp that has no other aircraft on it except a few old non-airworthy DC-4's. So she's sits away from all the moder glass panel stuff and parked next to wings of the era. I love it.

also a shot of me having the most fun I've had in a while

:D :D :D   :glasses2:
