Well girls...is it building season yet for anyone???

My husband starts building his 2nd 50cc gas airplane on Monday (when UPS comes by)...

So what do YOU have in the works for winter?

Please share the projects and ideas!

Hi all,

If you asked me last week, I would say a trex-600 and a couple FP scale projects. This week the hubby actually asked for a heli for Christmas!!!

I'm thinking a blade cx so he can get the hang of it, then he can move up to my FP's and smaller cp's.

I'm now thinking HE will be my winter project....lol

Cheers,
Leslie

That's a good one Leslie!!!

I love it! Does your husband fly RC at all? Any planes? Or will he be jumping right into rotary?

That's wonderful that he wants to join your hobby. So, does that mean you'll be fixing up cars soon? (I think I remember that being his primary hobby, right?)

Hi Jeanette,

No he does not fly, yet. I got him a Nitro monster truck this spring (part of my cunning plan) to get him into rc. He has had a ball with the truck, and we have had fun together witht the trucks and me chasing him with the heli (incredible practice).

So this will be his first flight foray, hence my thinking cx.

I am perfectly capable of tearing down and engine, I prefer to defer to him on this... Except for MY tractor (Kubota) it's hands off...smirk.

Cheers,
Leslie

ps I suspect I will have some great stories to share.... :glasses2:

Right on Chica!

I was always hanging out in the garage late at night on school nights with my Dad. Even if I fetched more coffee than I did actual wrenching. It was the environment and tinkering that I enjoyed with my Dad.

He gets the biggest kicks out of the projects that my husband and I work on now. I could literally see him beaming when I fired up my gas helicopter and he saw it take to the skies. He loved it!

Keep encouraging the hubby...he'll be converted before you know it!

Boyfriend is trying to get me a 30 size fuel heli so I can have more practice. Shall see what he comes up with (hoping that a hirobo shuttle comes throug the works) So that will be my 'winter' project. Here in Florida it is pretty good flying all year round.

:happyd I hope you get it! Glow can be annoying at times with the goo, but I love the sound and the smell of a nitro engine! Plus, even as frustrated as I get sometimes with setup, it is just one more thing to say I conquered when everything just works in harmony.

You'll be amazed how much more gentle and stable each size up feels.

Hello ladies - glad to see everyone again!

It has been a busy spring and summer - lots of flying events - but what I have decided I need the most this winter is more air time - so I asked the hubby for a Hummingbird FP V4 that I can fly in the house - and I got it!!! It came yesterday UPS!!! I got to try flying it last night - and it needs a lot of trimming but the hubby mechanic will have to do it. Right now I am just learning trim tabs - and well, they are at their ends so now it is TJRIDE'S turn - but it was still awesome!!!
:banana

I know I should say that I am going to build something this winter - and one day I have a feeling the hubby mechanic is going to insist that I get more into that end of the heli's. (but hopefully not too soon)
:thinking

I have a lot to learn still - I want to be able to FF at IRCHA next year - so I need practice, practice, and more practice to get over that pucker factor!!! Hence, wanting the Hummingbird!!!

So I guess you could say my winter project is "building" my skill level!!!

That is still a great project to work on kjfly!!! The better you can fly, the less chances you'll have to re-build. hehehe

Hey Jeanette...

This may not be a heli project, but I am going to finish kjfly's first Plank (VIRUS ARF made by LN Model). I will work on her some this winter to learn some planks on the Sim. Next spring she will be flying it. So basically-- kjfly has another project for winter,,,She just doesn't know it yet. She has been asking about the plane quite a bit in the last few months. These Heli's have got her on a roll. Has anyone noticed who's (kjfly) heli collection is growing more than mine... :arggg:

That looks like a sweet first plane for her TJ! I'm sure she's going to like it.

I know it's a bad thing to say here, but I LOVE AIRPLANES!

I've been into RC airplanes for nearly 14 years and although helis fascinate me and I love them, there will always be room for planks in my life.

Keep us posted on KJ and the airplane. :smokin:

Hi all,

There's nothing wrong with planes!! heck that't how most of us started. When I started flying control line (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) there were no heli's... not that I saw anyway :dontknow

I still have three birds in the basement and I, secretly :glasses2: , fly planks on my sim (alot).

Kj will have a ball with the plank, and that looks like an awesome introduction to flying them!! Good job Tj!!

Cheers,
Leslie

I know this is HeliFreak - and I AM a freak about my helis - but I have to say I have been curious about planks - especially since we have one sitting on top of the freezer in the hubby mechanic's work room - I can't believe he is going to finish it!!!!
:WOW

Hmmmm maybe I'll look into getting him one of those little planes that you can fly inside for his birthday - like my PiccoZ heli he got me for my birthday - WhirlyGirl did you say you got yours at WalMart?

I think it is going to be a fun winter!!!
:happyd

Of course I won't let a plank interfer with my heli practice - I have a goal to be comfortable with ff at IRCHA!

Okay, with all this work that my hubby has been doing writing an official build and flight review on the Wild Hare Extra, I got motivated to get my biplane out of the box for a "looksie". Albert bought this for me almost one year ago for the birth of our 10+ POUND daughter, Elise.

I think I may have to start the building process as soon as he completes his Extra...this plane just looks so SWEET!

Too bad it isn't really due to fly until after next winter...unless I win the lottery. :dontknow

Hey there Jeanette - that is one sweet looking plank - I love the rudder (tehe)!!! Can't wait to see it all finished - after you win the lottery of course!
