anyone have any idea on what the noise level is (in dB) for an electric helicopter (90 class)?
I don't have a dB meter and need some numbers.

Is this related to your lovely neighbour by any chance?

Depends. From above, below or beside? Under acceleration? From what distance? It changes dramatically when changing pitch, so hovering or climbing out?
Decibel levels for your heli will be considerably lower than, say, a gas lawn mower when measured in the same manner. Unfortunately, the list of variables is long. I suspect the ordinance/covenant specifies how the sound is measured and will require more than a generic answer. If not, it's unenforceable.
Good luck.[/quote]

thanks... this is not for my neighbor incident. she's settled down and I've flown quite a bit in my back yard lately and not heard a peep from her.
this has to do with another project I am working on.

also depends a lot on blades.

Stock Hacker ION or Joker 2 ?
The straight 2-stage gears in the ION make a loud wine. A sound meter at 10 feet shows more DB than a glow 90 heli. High pitch gear sound falls off quickly at distance though.
I havent heard a joker2 but that belt primary would be very quiet.

maybe I should go buy a meter at Radio Shack.

bought a Radio Shack dB meter a few years back to measure noise levels inside my airplane. Worked out pretty good, esp since I was concerned with relative noise levels (i.e. what improvements I could make). It wasn't very expensive and proved good service, though I have no way of telling how accurate it was.
