I dont have any 3 in1 anymore ...i have a 370 brushless main and i just intalled a gws ics 100 tail esc and the motors keep burning...after about 2-3 minutes of flight....what would be my problem...should i reenable the bec on the main motor?or does that have anything to do with it?

I kept burning out the tail motor on my CP and my daughters honey bee FP. They got really hot during flight which is expected but they failed quickly b/c of that. Finally tried taking an extra tail rotor and cutting it down 3/16 of an inch on each side. It now runs at a faster rate but less current and seems to last alot longer. The motor in it right now has almost 2 hours and 2 serious crashes and it is still running. (the crashes were a case of dumb thumbs during inverted flight, not tail failure!)

Are you running 3S LiPo's with that BL motor? If so, the regular tail rotor motors can't handle the juice. You'll need the "high voltage" version.

Rocketree's idea is a good one as well. I run a DD tail on my CP and cut down the props to let the motor spin faster and work easier..

Thanks guys i will try that tonight...i have ordered a brushless motor and esc will i have the same problem as they are 40$ a motor and i dont feel like constanly buying new motors?

I burned a brushless motor, turned out it was threadlock that got into motor from the motor adapting plate screws.

what kind of esc are you using for your tail motor?and what kind of motor
?

who makes brushless tail motors and esc for the tail? I was talking about the main motor 370 parkflyer one LINK ME PLEEEASEEEE

He's talking about the tail rotor motors burning out. I've got dozens and dozens of flights on my 370 BL main motor.. It barely gets warm after 20 mins of flight.

who makes brushless tail motors and esc for the tail?

A few people are running a Feigao 12mm BL motor and a Phoenix 10 (Castle Creations) ESC for the tail in a Direct drive config. You'll need to run a separate gyro with this setup and NOT use the tail motor connector from the 3-in/4-in-1..

Ok cool i already have the g90 heading lock gyro, Do you have a link to where i can get the direct drive tail motor?

you dont need the direct drive setup it actually alot of headach with a brushless motor I couldnt get my BL ESC on the tail to start in flight after a right piro the motor would slow down to allow the piro it would somtimes slow down so much that it would stop , and then theres no soft start avaiable in the air like that so then it would twitch out and the ESC would shutoff to prevent overheat . thats right tail shuts off in flight after doing a right piro , fun huh ? . Im using , 370 3600 KV motor on the main and the stock tail motor on the rear in the geared setup , the 5 Amp DC separate ESC that drives the tail is connected to a G190 gyro non heading hold. I get more than 20 flights per tail motor ( stock ones ) . the key is to not runb too high headspeed , keep it around just under 2000 , and GET a HEATSINK and some thermal compound . if you can also get an aluminum tail motor mount to suck up more heat and put thermal compound on the face of the motor where it mounts to the aluminum . IF you want to run dual tail motors that works too Ive done it but it makes the tail really heavy so I switched back to one and went for maximum heat dissapation

Thanks steve!!

I tried the brushless castle creation and it does exacly what it did to you..the only problem i have with the stock tail motor is that when i give it throttle the spins and the g90 hh gyro does not compensate enough..even with max right rudder it does not come back..did you end up putting some prop mix with the gyro to compensate for that torque?

sounds like the tailmotor is burnt
