Don't you just need an "L" bracket to mount it? :?:

Yea I just bought 2 revolutions (I can't get away with anything here can I?? LOL) I have 3 Bergens now. & they were such a good deal ! I'm a sucker for a good deal.

The reason I know is I was going to buy them, but you beat me to it. They were a good deal, especially for 2!

3 Bergens! Lucky Dog!

I am doing everything, short of selling my blood to try and get a second one. :D

I kind of cheated on one. The guy sold it for $750 with a G26 & duralite bat & some other stuff I sold cause I didn't need, anyway I ended up with the bare airframe for free!  The deal of this century!

I would recommend having 2 Bergens for sure. It makes for easy trouble shooting when you want to isolate problems. And lets not forget the crash issues.

Gyan: Yes, that would work. But since I have airplanes, I usually have spare controls horns. :)

Mike: I'm selling my Intrepid 60. Check the "Helis for Sale" forum. :)

Now I just have to finish building my second gasser. Time and money: Two things that I never have enough of!

I would like to have more than that! :D But in reality you can only fly one at a time. But like you said, the Crash factor. So 3 would be perfect.

Mike: I'm selling my Intrepid 60. Check the "Helis for Sale" forum.

Yeah I saw that, plus you told me about it in Saugus.

Thanks, but, I am going to stick with the gassers. Maybe someday wayyyy, wayyyy in the future, (talking years) a Turbine. Not really a reality, more like dream. :D

Time and money: Two things that I never have enough of!

I have plenty of time ( I hope), lacking on the other!

Yes, a basic "L" bracket is all you need for mounting the antenna the way I do it.

Here's another cool way to mount an antenna. This one is on my Raptor.

As you can see, I took one ball link and drilled a hole in the plastic landing gear to run a bolt through...yeah, a nice girlie purple bolt. That bolt secures the link to the gear and I used another bolt with some fuel tubing and a washer to secure the antenna to the ball link.

I have had the same problem you guys mention about the wire pulling out of the Rev antennas. I think mine did this because of all the times I bumped it while putting my Raptor canopy on. If this happens, you can *very carefully* cut away the black plastic near the mounting end of the antenna, re-solder the wire, and then fill it with epoxy. You now have a nearly indestructable antenna!

Very Nice! Clever idea!

The purple adds some nice color to it!

I am thinking about using something where the wire is at the base to make it stronger or protect it some way, maybe some kind of heat shrink plastic or epoxy.

I hate to take away bread from Chris's mouth but as far as a mount for the revolution whip its called "double sticky tape" guys! I just stick it on the side of the airframe and it stays put until I rip it off. Any good quality double stick tape will do, no reason for an airplane horn or a specific mount for this but if you want the "bling bling" someone will sell it to you for sure!

Duct Tape -

If you can't fix it "duck it"

Jeanette,

Nice idea

Check my gallery. The Revolution antenna mounts perfectly to the front canopy standoffs. Just turn the standoff so the hole is facing forward and put a screw through it and into the antenna screw hole. Works great.

That is some very neat wiring you have there.

It looks like the antenna sticks out the front pretty far. Is there plenty of room for it under the canopy?

What is that below you stator gator?

Very neatly set up heli.

Thanks for that info!

My canopy is being painted so I have to confess that I haven't personally tried it yet; however, if there were any doubt about it fitting I would not have offered this solution. Also, I got the idea for mounting the antenna from a post on this forum (Bergen topics) and they assured me the antenna would tuck in under the canopy very nicely. The Revolution antenna is very flexible so as far as it fitting shouldn't even be an issue. Below the Stator Gator is a Gem 2000. It monitors my on-board battery status. As for the wiring, thanks for the compliment. It took several tries and 20 or 30 zip ties before I was satisfied. Back to the antenna for a moment. I decided to measure it for you to see how much it actually sticks out the front of the battery tray. It's exactly 4 inches. I can flex the antenna around the front of the battery tray so that it sticks out less than two inches. Believe me, there is no problem with it fitting under the canopy. Check my gallery again. I took a few close-up pictures for you. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob!
I was not doubting your suggestion and appreciate the idea. I have just read that some people will drill a hole in the canopy to let the antenna stick through. I was just curious to see if that what you did, as I did not see your canopy, now I know why.

That may actually be the way I try and mount mine.

As far as your wiring, very impressed, it has made me want to go through and redo mine, AGAIN. :D I get so frustrated with it at times. It seems like trying to straighten spaghetti noodles.

Are your skids from Bergen?

Unfortunately, my canopy won't be done for a couple weeks yet. I'd sure hate to see you drill a hole in your canopy as I'm positive it's not necessary, at least not if you use a Revolution antenna. Give Chris a call and I'm pretty sure he'll confirm the fact that the antenna will fit inside the canopy if you mount it this way. Originally, I ran the stock length antenna back and mounted it to one of the boom supports like I did on my Raptors (see gallery) but in a conversation with Chris he convinced me that it was not a good idea to run the antenna past the engine on a gasser. He recommended the Revolution antenna and, if I remember correctly, after I mounted mine this way he also confirmed the fact that it would flex and fit inside the canopy just fine. Like I said, before drilling a hole, give Chris a call. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that my skids are the stock ones included with the kit. And boy do I understand what you mean about the wiring being like spaghetti noodles. Like I said, it took several tries before getting it to where it is now. I've actually seen some, though, that even make mine look messy.

Thanks again Bob,
I will just try it and see what happens. Chris has enough to do without me calling or bothering him.
I have no intention of drilling my canopy. :D Like I said I was just curious if you had to or not.
I cannot imagine some that are neater than that, but I am sure there are some very tedious wiring done one some of them.

Thanks for all the replies to my questions

Busy??? Yes. Too busy to talk to you guys? NEVER!! I may be a little distracted at times, but never hesitate to call us.

I agree Gyan!
I have been offered and told I should or need to get a different heli, but NO WAY! I am and will always fly Bergen!

Chris,
You have always answered my questions in a very timely matter. I just figured it was something I could try myself. I know if I am stuck and need help and cannot find the answer, you are there! There is never a worry about that!

Bobs, Broncoholic, I have had my revolution ant. mounted on my canopy support for a few years now and have had no problems. The canopy will push the ant. over to the side when it is put on. The ant. is hidden and no chance of bumping or wire pulling.
