Is anyone using one of these or something like it on their Bergen?
If so are they any better than the wire atennas?
Thanks

Yup, they work fine. In fact, it's pretty much the only way to keep the antenna away from the ignition system, which is a big source of RF interference. They cut your range by a little, but you'll still be able to fly further than you can see, so it's a non-issue.
You probably saw mine at the fun-fly. I have it velcro-tied to one of the skids.

I use the Revolution base loaded antenna and Chris makes a handy-dandy bracket that you can mount to the frames and mount the antenna to. It is inside the canopy and makes everything look "cleaner" without anything hanging around oustide the canopy.
Never had a problem with my range at all.

Thanks Paul and Whirly-Girl!
Yeah Paul I saw you had a different atenna, just was not sure what it was at the time. :D Now I do!
Hey Whirly-Girl,
Where can you get one or info on one of the Revolution's? I did a search and all that came up was posts about them on different forums.
I found Deans, but they make different ones, not sure which one to get.
You also said Chris made/makes a bracket for them are they on the Bergen website?
Thanks again

I like the one-piece Deans. I find them to be more durable.

Thanks again Paul.
I was not sure which one, plus I found a Revoltion one.
Now deciding which one to get.
They both are reasonably priced.
I like the idea of one being under the canopy as it would be out of the way.

Revolution is the best in my opinion and is what Bergen recomends.,, but either will work

Thanks Larry!
Well I am glad of that, I just got a new one off ebay! :D
I guess I made the right choice. Now to find out where to get the mount for it.

Revolution Baby!! I have had my fair share of problems with the Deans...albeit that it was 14 or 15 years ago...but once bitten you shy away from certain things...there might be no problems with the Deans now...

Got mine just before IRCHA from Chris. The bracket he's got for it is nice, too. Mounts right up front and fits under the canopy (not that I ever have it on. I fly naked  )

Or that'd be a good way to scare of the airplane pilots!

Here's a picture (post-crash) of my Rev. antenna with Chris's mount.
For those that have PM'd me, I couldn't find a part # on the Bergen website for the mount. It's a great little piece, maybe Chris still has some?

Judging from the carnage, I think the antenna mount is the least of your worries! LOL!

Yeah, another good reason to mount it inside...it was very well-protected!!!!
That was a pretty good first crash...but it's all fixed now!

I think so...but you'll find they don't approach you  We need more women in the AMA
Rick's sells a metal antenae similar to the Revolution but has the connector in the back of the antenae. The problem I had with 2 Revolutions was the wire pulled out of the end with no way to fix it.

I am not sure anyone would, :D They would think you would be to crazy to approach!
But I can imagine a lot of peole would be asking:
"Who, is that crazy guy flying naked over there?"
Good to know Gyan!
But didn't you just buy 2 more Revolutions?

I did find the atenna on the site but nothing about the mount. I saw Chris was on last night, but no reply, so must not have any more.
Oh Well, will figure out some way to mount it.
Thanks for trying to find it Jeanette.

The mount is actually a bracket used to attach the collective servo mount on the Intrepid Turbine...so I know Chris still has them...not sure on the part number as I am at work and not even really sure if I have a manual for the Turbine to look it up...

The owner of the local hobby store uses a Revolution antenna on all of his helicopters. His mount is rather ingenious for its simplicity: He uses an airplane plastic control horn with a hole drilled through it. The control horn is screwed to the front skid support so that the large flat surface with the drilled hole faces fore and aft. The antenna is screwed through the large flat surface so that it points forward.
Easy! :D
