OK I am doing Will's Logo14 build and working out were best to place the electronics. there is not a lot of "shelf" space on this heli :)
The ESC is a given of course and the RX to go where the manual shows due to the short wires on the 9650 servos.
Will supplied a 611 gyro and a 7.5 amp Duralite Reg and Flightpower 1800 flight pack. I am sure I can figure out places to put this stuff myself but many of you folks have been through this so I am looking for some input on places you folks have mounted this stuff and what you found as best places to put the stuff.
Most of the pictures in the Logo picture thread dont show the Logo with the canopy off.
My thoughts are:
611 Gyro sensor on the lower rear shelf per the manual and the 611 AMP outside the frame at the rear between the tail drive and the gyro shelf... I really would like to get the amp inside the frame but I am worried that will be too close to the sensor?
The durlite reg is large but I was thinking of putting this on the bottom of the frame in front of the rear landing gear support.
Flight power 2 cell 1800 lipo... running out of space man! but also thinking of putting this on the bottom of the frame under the main gear so it wont effect CG.
So what you all doing and think? Got any pics of your setups?

Here is mine.
If you dont have one of the gyro stands and still want it, its fairly easy to build one yourself (I built my first one, 2 bolts and some pieces of aluminium)
I dont use RX battery, I have a Medusa BEC which Is placed underneath.

Mine has everything where the manual suggests except for the bec mounted underneath the esc and the gyro amp mounted on the side of the frame.
I prefer the bec as well (a medusa 6v 3a, in this case), I consider a reciever pack/switch/regulator to be just dead weight, one more thing to fail and it's a pain to keep charged all the time.
Sorry about the dark pictures.

Wow... Thanks for the input!
I dont like the idea of the 611 AMP sitting outside the frame. I may work on a different solution but it is looking like I have no choice.
Why have you all mounted the amp on the side that is most vulnerable to a paddle or blade strike in a crash? Some reason for that?
I realize that is going to be rare on this heli but still.... Why not put it on the other side?
Hmm the lower shelf under the ESC is a good idea for the duralit reg but I wonder if the durlite reg will be OK there and not be subseptable to noise?

I realize that is going to be rare on this heli but still.... Why not put it on the other side? The location of the servo interupts this abit. You may be able to do it though, I have never had an issue where I have it and a few times I have put one in good ! I have seen a few peeps run their regulator and bec under the esc shelf, no issue really as it is all so distanced from the receiver.

Thanks and since I have not mounted the tail servo yet
I had not reliazed your freakin correct! It wont go there very well and I would not want it getting the noise this servo can create so I dont want it that close....
Dang... I wish Mikado gave one extra shelf between the lower plate and the tail bomm box! Or maybe one extra under the main gear near the rear...
This setup is perfect for a 401 but needs a extra "spot" for a 611...
Anyway I am having fun figuring this out but so far you guys pretty much have the stuff in the best places at least as I can find!

MrMel,
I like your idea but if I was to do that I would make it less diving board looking (bouncy looking based on your pics) and would mount it under the boom.....
Hmmm I kind of like this idea and may refine it a bit :)
This allows the 611 AMP to be in the gyro area in the frames!
GOOD idea!

The one on the picture is mikado original (CF) so its firm.
And yes, you could mount it underneath..
Yes, Mikado does make a boom mount for the gyro.
I tried for a little while to figure a way to put the amp inside the frames and still retain good access to the display and buttons, couldn't come up with much. Now I actually like it on the outside like that, easy to read and manipulate, and it hasn't come to any harm yet

Yea... looks like I will be going that way.....
One other shoivce is next to the RX. I had my 601 AMP above my RX with foam between them on my Vibe 90 and had no problems. I may look at that option too.
Will's RX is a R319 so he will need access to the dials so I may see if they will go side by side.
