JR Radios recently released new receivers with a frequency selection feature called ScanSelect. Well , of course , synthesized transmitter modules and receivers are not new to RC aircraft. Until now, there was always the need to set some tiny dials in the synthesized receiver when setting a new frequency. JR has changed that with the introduction of four ScanSelect equipped receivers. In the process, overall performance has been improved as well.
Ok, this does sound very interesting and easy, but just what do I have to do if I want to change the frequency of my JR ScanSelect receiver? Having the JR synthesized transmitter module is really a prerequisite to getting the most from your ScanSelect receiver, but it is not mandatory.
Follow this quick procedure to select a new frequency:
* The initial step is to make sure that you have the correct new frequency pin if you are at the local flying field.
* Confirm that your transmitter is set to the desired new frequency and modulation, then turn it on.
* Next, turn on the receiver power.
* While holding the receiver, push and hold the scan button until the glowing blue LED goes out.
* Quickly push the button once more and release. Note: You only have 5 seconds or less to perform this operation or the receiver reverts to the previously set frequency and you will have to return to step 4.
* The LED will flash a few times until it recognizes the new frequency that your transmitter is broadcasting on. At that point, when it stops flashing and remains on solid, the new frequency has been selected and the receiver is “locked on.”
* Be sure to attach the correct transmitter antenna flags for the new frequency.
Now you have completed the ScanSelect operation and the new frequency has been selected. To support the ScanSelect procedure here is a short 15 -second video presentation of the process; you can view the video from this link (Windows Media Format - 116 KB).
