i am in the middle of a stratus build, os sz(non pump) engine. i know engine plate is the correct one, and i have the stock os washer only on the crank. the gap is about .010. i do not believe this enough. i have checked my assembly a few times and can not find anything wrong. the easiest way i see to increase the gap would be to skim about .010 off the engine back plate.

Roy,

.010 is right on the verge of being too close. I think it will work though. I had a gap of .012 this past summer and I never had an issue with it. I know others who have had a gap of .015 and they had a problem, so I think it might be hit or miss. You could also get a very thin piece of metal (.010 AT MOST) thick and put that inbetween the A arms and the carbon base plate. Wayne did this and he has not had a problem yet.

thanks for the reply, i just chucked the back plate up in my lathe and skimmed .012 off of it. now the gap is at .023 . it should be fine now.
