Scott, I am in the black shirt standing on the rock. This was the fun day after finishing up some work in the area. You know you love your job when you still do it on your day off :)
Thanks for the comments

Fantastic! So I just have to ask, how do you make a shot like that from a heli?
I know there are pano cameras you can mount on a tripod that spin around and take all the individual shots, but a heli couldn't stay perfectly still long enough for all the shots, not to mention the rotor and other items obstructing some of the shots. You must have invested some serious time in both hardware and software to make a shot like that from a heli. Gezz, even the exposure is fantastic in all directions!
BRAVO indeed!

Thanks for all the comments, I am glad you guys enjoyed this one as it was a blast to make.
oscillator- I cant really discuss the particulars of how we are making these, I spent about a year in R&D before I got one to even come close to working.

Tabb I understand your need to protect your IP
Maybe you can answer this, ( feel free to say no comment again as I completely understand your desire and need to say as little as possible), but, if the answer is what I think it is, we are only going to be more envious of you.
Did you do this one solo, or better yet can you do these solo?

Knowing Tabb personally and how he captures these amazing shots I can tell you it is all him.
100% Tabbs skill involved here and he is being modest when he says he has put a year of R&D into this.
He has been working on his systems for as long as I know him and I can honestly say I have not seen a more perfect R/C helicopter flying.
That is pretty much all anybody will get out of him or me. :D
There is a lot of sweat equity not mention the green kind involved here. :D
Once again bud you pushed that bar a LOT higher. :D

I don't even know what to say...I just kept saying "WOW" as I looked at the pano.
Tabb: You ARE DA MAN!
And to think, I have Tahoe practically in my backyard.
AWE-some job!!!!

I've been in that exact spot, in my boat! There was a girl sunbathing nude on a rock near there that my brother-in-law spotted. We were pulling his son, my nephew who was water-skiing. As soon as my brother-in-law saw the girl he yelled that my nephew was down, even though he wasn't. lol! He fiddled with the rope for awhile, so we weren't too obvious and then we started to go again. Then my nephew saw the girl and he immediately fell on purpose, so we HAD to circle around him again. He was only about 12 at the time and his eyes were as big as golf balls. Later, none of us said a word to his mother or aunt! This was about 15 years ago, but it is still a memorable place to me.
As usual, this is great work. I am working hard to get to a spot to do these with the same sort of quality that Tabb is getting, but not there yet! Hopefully, it won't take me a year to do it...

Ha! Reminds me of a time a bunch of us were sailing, and a friend was scanning the rocks and spotted a naked couple on the rocks, well, er, coupling :). He had a real problem, as he really wanted to pass the binoculars around for us to all have a look, without my 10 year old daughter wanting a turn! :D

heres a wild guess :
Joker RTF: $3000
Carvec gps: $10,000
5D : $3.500
fisheye lens : $1000
Fast computer with lotsa software and huge raid array: $2500
Custom mount and lots of tinkering : Priceless ?

Well money and equipment in my opinion are only a small part of it.
The time and effort Tabb has put into his system are the real keys to getting the great shot everytime.
