400DH 9T Pinion Install for Zoom

Hi Guys,

After trying to figure out how to install a pinion and reading through EZone for an hour or more on the subject.....

Last night when I went to Shannon's to work on my night rig I got him to show me how to install a pinion. What he did was to heat the pinion a little bit with his mini torch, suppot the other end of the armature shaft on the back side of the motor with a big punch, and the hot pinion tapped right on. MUCH easier than I ever imagined. Glad I got help. :)

You can press them together with a vice, which is the way I do it now. The first time I put a pinion on a Himaxx I did the heat and tap method, had to order another motor due to a slightly bent motor shaft (Will still work in a foamy though! :) ) And I spent $12 fot a pinion puller to simplify that end of the process also :D

Have you seen any vids of a zoom running with this motor? I'm curious if an outrunner sounds much difference and if it affects the flying much.
