My long term girlfriend (future wife), and I, ritualistically sit on the balcony every evening. We sit there BSing, smoking cigarettes, and have a few beers. Usually, she will catch me in a daze, looking like this  . She says, "What, helicopter stuff?!". And I reply, "So.", as she gives the " ". Surely, I'm not crazy! How do I help her understand the infatuation? Give me a break. I love my toys! Especially my Extreme! Am I alone here? Someone, please talk to her!

Hi Cory. I'm sorry to tell you that she will probably understand BUT never get over it. I know my husband loves his hobby and I am glad for him to have it over others. However, I will always miss the time he spends with it verses the time he spends with us.

Try and spend a little time with her consistantly.

Understood. We do spend a lot of good time together. It's more of a mental preoccupation on my part. I believe you and I met in Greenville (last weekend or the previous?). I am terrible with names and I apologize if I am mistaken.

Try and avoid this. Women want your attention at 100%. Once I'm alone I can do all the dreaming I want. Dream at the field, they want to be #1 and feel that way 2!

You hit the nail on the head John, my wife has been complaining about feeling No2 for a while. I have to do something about that.

I must be lucky! My wife, Gail, loves it. She gets upset if we have to miss a fun fly because one of us has to work or something. If she see's something heli related she likes, she says Let's get one of those. Doesn't mind if I spend TOOOOO much money on this stuff. It's great having someone to share the enjoyment with.

Count me in as one of the lucky ones...actually, my husband and I are going to have to start a system of which fun fly to go to. I'm concentrating on heli flying and he's concentrating on giant scale aerobatics...if there are two fun fly's in the same weekend, who gets to pick? And no, we can't go separately because we'll soon have 2 kids and it's nice having both of us there so that one can fly at ease and the other can be the parent.

Pretty soon you will have to choose a choice event between the four of you....it is amazing how fast the little ones grow up and become active participants themselves.

Yeah, there is definitely a time to think about 'toys' and a time to be thinking about other things. Sitting on the balcony in the evenings is a nice relaxing time to think, and unless you two are talking and you're ignoring her or something, if it is silent, then you should be allowed to think about whatever crosses your mind.

Yep, we will definitely be taking turns, and after I learn how to fly helis, Whirly-Girl and I will be trading off who watches the kids at heli meets too!

What a problem to have! :glasses2:
