I made my maiden fly this morning with my Outrage550.
After about 5 minutes of flight, everything is OK. I fly another 3 minutes and after my second landing, I note that the one-way bearing is locked very hard. I try to unlock it without success while turning manually the gear and the pulley.
On the bench, I removed the main gear to check it and suddently the one-way bearing work again.

Should I change my one-way bearing for a new one , or put oil or grease inside it, or other?

Any idea?

Definitely try a light oil (http://www.helidirect.com/triflow-6oz-non-aerosol-drip-bottle-p-7151.hdx) on the bearing and see if that has any effect. However, something appears to be wrong with the one-way sleeve in the latest batch of kits/parts. Two guys here have had a similar problem to yours lately: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=203940. (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=203940)I would open a support ticket at HeliDirect.com, they are very helpful and they are the ones that deal with warranty issues on behalf of OutrageRC.

I already have a "Scorpion motor bearing lubrifiant" in hand, can I use it?
I follow your advice and I have open a support ticket at HeliDirect.com, just to wait their answer.

Just for the info, few minute later, I spool it up again and after 3 to 5 minutes, the one-way is locked again. The one-way bearing seem really defect.

The Scorpion oil should be just fine.

Here's my experience with that.

- First off, chech you have not tightened the main mast too high when tightening the collar. You must hold it just so that there is no play, then tighten the collar.
- Even with this, you sometimes get the main gear stuck with the tail gear. It's not the one way, it's friction somewhere between the gears.
- Normally it loosens after cooling down. Do not force it, I have broken one-ways by forcing it anticlockwise. After a few minutes you just hold the main gear only and rotate the head clockwise and it will come loose after 45º or so.
- I have tried different belt tensions with no success. Lubricating abundantly didn't help either.

Now I just live with it, some flights end ok, some it's stuck. I have even autorotated with the thing stuck and driving the motor and though it robs some energy you can land ok.

If you find something conclusive please let me know!!!

marcosp that is not normal bud. You might wanna try changing your OWB and One way sleeve to the new ones. I am still running the old one and it never had any issues, maybe something changed on the 550 when the V50 started production. The 550 is set and forget, you cannot be getting the most fun out of your machine if you have to worry about something like that.

Today, I removed the main gear to check the one-way bearing. I
see inside the bearing that many small narrow strip between rollers are
broken or twisted.
I have only 20 minutes of flying with this and just hovering and little fast forward fly but
these 20 minutes of test flight was very pleasant. I think that I will love my Outrage.

I submit a ticket to HeliDirect yesterday and he will send a complete one-way/hub assembly today.

HeliDirect has a awesome service as usual.

Outrage and HD have built a great reputation for this very reason. Hope you get the heli up and enjoying it as quick as possible. My 550 is down atm while i get a new canopy grommet :)

Yeap, I had problems with the one-way and they sent a new one free of charge. They told me the problem is supposed to be the sleeve, the improved one is the one that has Outrage engraved on it. I put an Align 600 one-way which is made in Germany and working really well and am weary of changing back to an Outrage one. I insist I do not see this lock up as a one-way bearing issue. It really feels as if the two gears are locking, and when they unlock there is a soft release to it. Hard to explain. I have the replacement sleeve at hand for whenever the Align one gives up.
