I got these BMS-821DMG+HS servos for my cyclics that a BMS servo application chart said were "suitable" for helis. I tried testing them with a 4.8V battery and receiver and the servos just go back and forth without any input. Any ideas why?

My bad, it's just one of my cyclic servos that's wonky. I guess getting a fourth wasn't a bad idea...oh but wait, now my new brushless tail servo doesn't even actuate. DANGITALLLLLL:arggg::arggg::arggg:

Have you plugged the servo direct to receiver bypassing the gyro as a test ?

Forgive my noobishness. The servo worked with the gyro. Yay! It's a Turnigy BLS980 btw.

Ugh please help! I am about to flip my lid. I tested the tail servo again today to center it and now it doesn't start up with the gyro and receiver. Wth???

not the answer you'd like to hear, faulty servo or/and gyro? Use electronics that others here had good success with. Considering the overall cost of getting this heli into the air, a few hundreds more is not the end of the world.

I see that the Turnigy BLS980 is 760us pulse, what gyro do you have? Maybe your gyro does not support 760us or you didn't set it up properly for your tail servo?

gy401 gyro
I notice the servo jumps sometimes when i plug it in, but then nothing.

GY401 does NOT support 760us pulse. HobbyKing wesite mentions gyros that work with this servo

I'm afraid you need another gyro and/or another tail servo that match well together.

Thanks barzaun. It's weird how it was working in the first place, though. Anyway I'm getting the spartan quark. 30% off Spartan gyros at helidirect until the 30th.

Hi!
Or you can try this Assan 1520us to 760us adapter.

I've never tried this, but according to the reviews your GY401-Turnigy BLS980 combo could work with this.

The 1500 to 760us converter will probably work, however the engineer in me has a hard time reading the description on HobbyKing's website according to which the converter improves the performance of the gyro. The converter does not improve the performance, it just makes the gyro and servo ''speak the same language''.
