I was wondering how easy it might be and which longer booms might fit the 600. A simple search didn't turn up much.
thanks, randy

I've looked into it. A JR Ergo boom should potentially fit, but still need to find a appropriate belt. DJ Vegh was sourcing belts for the Raptor, so maybe he might chime in. I'm interested in giving a shot at it too. The one issue to be conquered is the issue with an appropriate pinion to keep the HS down. Anyone who can identify THAT would be my friend!

gearing will need to be changed or a motor with a lower kV. As for belts, you would likely find what you need at www.sdp-si.com. That's where I get all my belts.

I did. But it just completely destroyed the whole model.

DOH! That's what I should've tried - a longer boom!

I was checking the Align site and I think it shows the t-rex 600 boom to have an outside diameter of 21.5 mm and I think the raptor 50 booms are 22 mm o.d.
So I'm guessing that with a very tiny bit of fussing with a dremel around the tail case and boom support area the same booms that stretch the raptor might work; like the Ergo boom as iflybyu77 mentioned above. I've also used the Vigor boom to stretch a raptor as well.
The Align site also lists the belt as:
Tail drive belt(592XL) x 1
so likely a 592 toothed belt. If the belt is similar to the raptor belt (I've never looked at one to check and no one around here is flying a rex600, yet) then sdp should have about any length belt one could want, as DJ mentioned above. The problem is, they have thousands of different belts.
A search on https://sdp-si.com/eStore/ for "timing belts" will bring up a bunch o belts. I may order a stock t-rex600 belt to have something to start with. In the meantime if anyone knows the stock belt's tooth pitch and belt width that would be about all that's needed for an educated guess. I think.

so likely a 592 toothed belt.
that means the pitch length is 59.2" not 592 teeth. A 592 tooth belt would be ENORMOUS! Big enought to swing some 1000mm blades :D
According to my calculations this is the belt you would likely start with
sdp-si part no. A 6R 3-315025
315 teeth and .25" wide neoprene with fiberglass reinforcement. This should allow 690mm blades

Not necessarily Dennis, the little Trex 450xl belt has 400 teeth. :)

592 tooth XL would be 118.4" long belt (5tooth/inch) or 59.4" long loop (probably need 55" boom) that would be some stretch

yes but think a little harder young grasshopper..... the 450 Rex has smaller pitch therefore more teeth per inch! :D :D

450 uses MXL or 12tooth/inch. 400 at 12tooth is 33" long belt. half that for boom.

I knew that, just pulling your chain :) BTW I was actually 61 on Monday, does that make me an old grasshopper :)

naw... a grasshopper is a grasshopper is a grasshopper.
as long as you have both legs/wings then you're a good to go grasshopper. it's when you lose a leg or wing that you jump/fly in circles like a drunk grasshopper.
