I recently found some old parts for my now deceased Aerohawk and decided to try and resurrect it. I want to use a lipo instead of the old nicad which never really worked. The old batts that came with the hawk were 8.4v and I am having difficulty finding that volt lipo. I have an 11.1 volt gws lipo and I was wondering if I could use it or maybe I have to go 7.4v. I have a Johnson 450 motor with dual tail motors from Like 90. What I am more worried about are the electronics. Does anyone think that they would fry with an 11.1v lipo? Any help would be useful.

Hey,

Yes, I think you'll invite problems trying to run an 11.1 volt LiPo in the model as like you have thought the voltage will be to high, not only for the motors but the electrics to.

I have a Century Hummingbird, very similar machine to the Aerohawk which runs 9.6 volt NiMh battery packs. Lying around I have a 2 cell 1800mah LiPo pack and so decided to try it. Originally I thought the lack of volts would be a problem but it isn't, far from it.
Infact the LiPo, due to it's ability to provide a constant stream of power compared to the NiMh pack the head speed stays constant and is very useable.

If you can find a small 2s 7.4volt LiPo try it out.
