I have had my 450 and 600e for about 2 years now and I'm thinking about going nitro. While looking around at parts for my new heli I came across pumped and non pumped versions of some motors.
Now, I'm a complete noob when it come to nitro and I would like to know what's the main differences between the two and which would be a better choice for someone new to nitro?

If I were you I would go with non pumped motor, easier to tune. Or wait a few days and go with the new OS 91 with the crank case pressure.
Here is a link to a video, where Bobby And Bert are talking about everything you need to know about Nitro, it's worth the $2.99.

Unless you are doing very heavy 3D pumped isn't that important, all it will stop is the engine leaning out at low fuel levels and keep the fuel flowing consistently when throwing the helicopter around.
Your better off getting non-pumped as the above has said, easier to tune and less fuel line to worry about, also pumped motors can be rather picky about how you do the fuel plumbing.

Agree 100%, as far as non pumped and low fuel level leaning, the issue can be cured with a Fuel Magnet. ;)

Go with the non pumped and fuel magnet, you will be very happy with this combo. You look at the Align motor same as the OS for less money.

I like the YS :) ,, i have 2 align 91 and 1 os pump. i think the ys stand out, i 2 incident on non pump align 91, the fuel line connect to pipe presure worn out, cause motor to lean - damage piston and ring.. pump os 91 don't have power like non pumped. 1 hard landing belly down and pump mounted on back plate break :(
the ys 91 suit me just the best
