Think of acceleration as a positive expo applied at the extremes of pitch and/or throttle. Can be used to give a quick power boost at the high points of 3D flying or manage power issues at those extremes. You setup where these "extremes" begin (start taking effect) by moving the pitch/throttle gimbal to an appropriate position (hi and/or low) and pressing the appropriate "Active Pos." button. Rate defines how "fast" you want it to react, i.e. the acceleration factor. Note that this will temporarily override the established ATV Travel value, up to the channel's ATV Limit, so you need to make sure to use a value that will not cause any binding. Dumping is used to set how quickly the "acceleration" action returns back to "normal". The lower the dumping value the quicker (crisper) the reaction will be. Best way to learn how these work is to change their values and look at how the appropriate channel changes in the Servo Monitor screen as you move the gimbal.
