I have nitro helis now and want to buy a 400 size electric. But I'm not buying just one or two batteries.

4 output charger (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKAU0&P=0) is one way.

Could I buy a jumper starter battery for a car and use it to power my dc charger. If so, what one and any features I should look for? Also, could I use this all the time even when not at the field?

The jump starter will work fine. Look for one with the highest amp rating possible as it will last longer. Remember, the more amps you charge the shorter the time that the jump starter will last. It is simple supply and demand. Yes it can be used at home, but the same rule applies.

The best thing for home use is to buy a 12V power supply that will plug into the house recepticle and the charger plugs into it. That way you will use the same charger but with an infinite supply of power. These can be bought for a reasonable amount of money. I think mine was about $30. They can also be made out of some computer power supplies.

You could also get a TP1010 and balancer. You could charge 2 batteries at a time with a Y cable and keep the cells balanced. I would also go the route of a 12V power supply. They are cheap and worth it. Use the jumper starter when you don't have an outlet to charge with!

There is an article in the new Rotory about how to use the 1010c to charge three 3 cells packs at a time. I think they said the charge time could be like 15 or 20 minutes. Thats quick.

Whoops...The balancer only has two ports......

yes, but the ports are 'grouped' so it certainly may be possible to balance 4 low count packs at the
same time. Would need to check.
