9CHPS and Sim Cable

When plugging my 9CHPS into XTR via the USB cable, the power comes on in the radio automatically. I've heard that this s what it is supposed to do.

Is this like using a DSC cable where it also disables the transmit portion of the radio (whereby I can keep the antenna lowered?)?

Or should I pull the synth TX module...
