I just received my new (to me) 700 on Thursday and I am going to put in an order for glow plugs and an igniter. Any suggestions? I am thinking OS8 for the plugs but for ignitor i have no idea. I want something that can lock in and not have to hold. What do you guys have? Thanks

SwitchGlo, is a very good choice. Everything is on the Heli and you use power from the on board battery.

http://www.switchglo.com/. I have it setup on the gear channel and it works great. If you don't want to mess around with radio mixes you can also use it with the external remote button that is available for another $10. Look in my Gallery I have pictures from my 700LE build and you can see the SG there.

I love my Switchglo Pro...

1. You dont need to carry that much stuff.
2. If youre motor is too fat at the idle screw and it didnt want to get rpm when youre floating just use youre SwitchGlo
3. If you lost youre heli in the middle of a cornfield the beeper on it willl help you find your heli^^

+1 on the switchglo. I have mine activated by the TH switch. No chance of a hot start, and during autos you get the plug lit. They work well.

If you have the OS or Align 91 engine, then the OS8 is the right choice.

If you want to save some money (the switch glo is $60-70), you can also use a remote glo plug adapter. Just run the wiring back near the engine and you can use a portable NiCd glow plug lighter with it. You can find the remote adapters on all the heli store websites.

guess it depends on how many machines and how much you want to spend on the problem.

by time you're finished w switchglo, you're looking at a 70-80 dollar solution per machine vs. getting a glow ignitor (Radio South Pro III is great) and maybe a $5 extension per machine.

I guess you already probably have a regulator (or running straight off a Lipo?) but if it was me I'd go with the Align 2-in-1 -makes for a nice simple and convenient setup.

While a switch glow and the Align 2 in 1 is great I have gone back to the basics. The 700's have a hole in the canopy for just that reason. A long shaft glow driver works perfect and I just throw it in my radio case. Simple and functional.

This is the one I have and has been running strong for 4 seasons now. I let it charge overnight maybe once a month: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=MCD104

I appreciate all the help fellas. I went with the switchglo. I wanted to have something that I didn't have to bring more stuff out with me and I had an Align 2n1 on the old heli so it spoiled me a bit. Thanks guys.
