How are you guys setting this up? I cant for the life of me figure out how you actually take the picture!
Can you use a 6 channel radio with a electric heli? or do you need more channels?
Can some one post a picture of their setup that will show how to set up a camera that only takes a picture when you want it to?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I will have a Trex 600, so power to carry a camera should not be a problem!

From what I have read there are a number of solutions including:
1) Get a big CF card, trigger the camera manually to take photos continuously and then go fly. At say 20 shots/minute and a 15 minute flight you won't come close to filling say a 1GB card. If you do, get a 2GB card :)
2) Setup a servo to mechanically press the trigger button using a channel controlled by a switch on your tx.
3) Buy one of the specialised R/C camera interfaces and drive it from a spare channel.
4) Hack into your camera to connect wires to the trigger circuit and interface them to a spare channel.
You may indeed have to free up a channel, ideally you would go to a manual gyro gain and use the gyro gain channel to control the camera. If you think you might want to get into gymbal controls on your camera mount then you will need more channels and have to upgrade to at least a 9 channel system.

Great! Thanks guy's! When I get home, I am going to check the wifes camera and see if it has an ir port or connection for RC. Its the newest small Nikon with 7.1 mp on the market! If she will let me use it! LOL. Just picked it up in Singapore, they have it before any other country has it when it comes to electronics!

here's a good website to go to just to see how it's being done.

Thanks, even more options and Ideals. At least now, I have seen some Ideals. The brain is ticking! I hope to some day get some of my investment back from this hobby. No one here is doing this where I am. Also have some fun in the process!

sparky,
I use the Hexpert PRISM to trigger my camera. I only have 6 channel radio (DX6/6102) and use the Prism to trigger in timed mode every 2 seconds without a trigger (for stills) for movies just turn it on. Using a Pentax Optio A10 camera.

I also have the SpartanRC AP2000i which requires using the gear channel for calibration and turning on/off - but it allows connecting the GY401 on an unused output so that the HH feature is turned on- works great!
I do wonder about using something like a remote control (i.e. garage door opener) to trigger camera independent of the heli radio- I am always within 100' or so when I want to capture photo.

Over here, we do not have remote control garage door openers. Or I would persue something like that.
But I do like what I saw on the web site. Now, I must email my wife and check what the Camera has. Got the itch, I want to know now! I am an information junkie!
Thanks!
