My Raptor with 4000mAh Duralites was stuck up a tree all night untill I could get it down the following day. Take a look:

http://www.cjwoods.com/Raptor_tree_crash.htm

and the voltage when I got the heli back was lower than 5.5V (4.8v).

After charging overnight, the charger light went out. The voltage under 1A is now 7.47V, a little less than before (was about 7.60V)

What do you folks think? Is the battery damaged?

Cheers

Since the system was not discharging the battery under much load, cell damage may not have occurred. But,...the pack has been affected in some way and this will shorten the life of the pack. To what degree is yet to be determined. If I would use this pack, I would do so with some caution and see if it drops voltage more rapidly than usual. A low voltage cut off #43055 sold by Duralite would take care of this type situation.

It would be best to contact Duralite and describe your incident to see what they say.

Just got back from 3 good flights. Battery seems to have recovered :)

Voltages were:

7.55V
7.44V
7.40V
7.37V

(all under 1A load)

Even better,

When I charged her back up last night, the voltage has returned to where it started before the discharge - 7.6V under 1A load.

Looks like I got away with it.

Must try not to get it stuck in a tree again overnight
