I got tired of accidentally bending the aluminum boom supports so I made some CF ones from a spare X-Spec tail rotor pushrod ($25, 0414-191). One pushrod is enough for both boom supports. First, use a spare piece of M2 pushrod to carefully hammer out both roll pins from one stock aluminum boom support. Then pull out the aluminum piece on each side. Wrap a piece of masking tape around the CF pushrod to keep it from splintering and use a cutoff wheel to trim it to proper length. Cut it a little long and use a sanding block to clean up the end and take it down to final length. Then drill the unfinished end with an M2 or 5/64" drill bit. Insert the aluminum piece you removed earlier and carefully reinstall the roll pin. Repeat for the other side. Now I can pick the machine up by the boom supports.

Hey Stuka, Good idea. I just used some t-rex 600 boom supports cut down to fit for mine. They were about $11.99 and they are very sturdy. I didn't like the ball links on the boom supports, but that is just my opinion.

I lost mine, and have not put a set back on. I have not noticed any negative effects without them. I have 30+ flights without them now. I know the ones that came with the kit did squat!!! :badair:

Are they really necessary on a small heli like this? :dontknow

Is the problem that the std. braces bend, or that they use ball links?

Havent heard anyone having problem with them bending?

I havent had any problems with the stock ones so far, but..

They bend very easily. They are very very hallow. Removing the ball links were my personal preference.

I too am using cut down Trex 600 braces and I noticed a huge improvement! The tail is alot more reactive to my inputs because it is better supported and feels real solid now.
