Hey fellas, I just discovered this forum a few days ago while browsing through some newb information to get me started on my first ever RC Helicopter. I decided to buy the Blade CP Pro three days ago and have been practicing a bit of hovering. I haven't taken any big crashes on it since its never gone more than 3 feet up in the air and i'm alway too chicken to let if fly for longer than 5 secs LOL.

Anyways, I decided to get a new battery and some new plastic main blades after my wooden ones started to break off on the edges. After I installed the blades and battery, I tried to launch it up but the chopper never got off the ground. When I crank up the throttle and the trim all the way up, the blades never spin fast enough to lift the heli off the ground. As soons as the blades start turning fast enough to get the heli to crawl just a bit on the ground, the LED indicator light turns solid red and the blades don't speed up any more.

Well, I don't know much about RC Helis or any other RCs for that matter. But I've tried new batteries on both the transmitter and Heli, and I've also tried my best to re-examine my blade set up carefully. The only thing I can think of that might be the problem is the motor, but I dunno how to test it. Anyways, if anyone has had a similar experience and would like to help, I would greatly appreciate it.

You using a LiPo or NiMH? (LiPo is ~$40 where NiMH= $12).

I'm using Lipo batteries. I also tried a brand new Lipo and same problem happened. I also noticed that the shaft wobbles a bit as soon as I start raising up the throttle. And I did the servo test where I unplugged the motors and listened to the servos as I moved the pitch around. One of the servos (though I can't tell which) keeps making a buzzing noise when I hold the pitch to the left. The noise is also present when I hold the pitch down, but not as loud as when I hold it to the left. So I'm thinking a slightly bent shaft coulda messed up one of my servos...

I had a similar problem when I used plastic blades. I probably did not do enough research of why and ordered the brushless motor set up. Probably not the correct approach but I really like the brushless set up. I have only had it up a few times now with the brushless set up.

Something I would certainly look at is the paddles. Check the paddles out to see if they are both level. I found my paddles were not level, which lead to a similar problem to yours. I had a problem earlier where one was sticking up about 10 degrees and the other was level. Once I fixed that I could hover better.

Not sure if this helps you, hopefully it does. Something to look at anyways.

well I have been flying the cp pro for a while and might have encountered just about every problem with that heli, I have gone threw servo gears like crazy. Must make sure you did not strip and teeth of them you can tell by move them up and down by hand and no power on and see if you feel a click. Also a pitch gage is sweet to make sure your pitch is not to high. Also I have gone threw a main motor that was killing the juice of my lipos, I have 4 lipos so i knew that all 4 could not have gone bad at the same time, I swaped out my motor which was getting pretty hot and bingo right back to 15 mins of flying, i also run plastic blades. And i agree with the paddles as well as they will increas the drag if not perfectly straight. Plus the tail motors on these cps burn out like light bulbs, if you notice you take off and the heli starts to spin and you have full stick to counter it , change your tail motor out or get a duel set up. hope this helps

Thnx a lot for the replies guys. I reall appreciate your info. I managed to solve the problem after taking the whole head apart. It turned out that the spinlde was bent, and the retaining pin on the main shaft was broken. As a result, the shaft would spin without turning the head at full power.

On another note, the stupid vertical tail support rod keeps breaking on me and the last time it broke flush with the support hole.....

Get an aftermarket plastic or aluminum tail motor support case and install the tail support fin that comes with a lot of these cases. Kill two birds with 1 stone. And adds some looks to your bird.
