Hello all. I am new to the hobby and I am currently building my first heli.
T-Rex 450 XL HDE. I have everything built and servos installed, except tail servo (back ordered) My question is shouldnt the motor run when throttle is moved up? All servos move fine and I have a steady light on the gyro (401) everything seems to be hooked up correctly, do I need to adjust something in the radio to allow the throttle to work with the pitch servo. As I said this is my first heli and any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont have the receiver or gyro mounted yet, just trying to make sure everything works first. Is there a way to check the esc and motor to see if they work? If anyone is near the Joliet, IL area I would be interested to hook up for a beer and bull session and maybe get some set-up/ training help. IM BUYIN!!

My set -up is: FUT GY 401
FUT S 9650 (back ordered)
Hitec HS 65 servos
Hitec micro electron 6 reciever
align 3550 kv motor
align 35A esc
Hitec Eclipse 7 w/ spectra module :arggg:

Double check what channel you have the ESC/throttle on. Verify the servo direction of the throttle. Is the radio set up properly for the correct swash (mechanical)?

Yup, everything is correct. The directions for the esc say it should beep when power is connected and gives info for programming. It doesnt make any noises at all, so I think its no good.

I remember experiencing the same thing when I built my TRex (it's been quite some time though), I think I reversed the throttle servo on the radio and it worked. It should beep. Reverse the throttle servo function and leave the collective stick at bottom, then plug in.

I also suggest setting your throttle hold switch prior and making sure it's engaged. If I remember correctly, depending on the collective stick position the ESC will determine if it goes into "flight mode" or "program mode". It's been a while since I played with my TRex, so I may be wrong..... (either way, I think it won't go to full throttle on start up, but I'd set the throttle hold just to be sure)

The esc was bad, I went and got another one today and it works great. I went ahead and picked up a tail servo also since theres no telling when the backordered one will come. Gyro and tail servo set-up tonight . woo-hoo
