Since I now seem to own all the flybarred heads left in the known universe------ when one is comfortable with the intermediate settings, and wanted to sneak up on EXPERT-- where would one start?
I'm running the short flybar and KBDD paddles and middle holes in most every option. Maybe just put the long flybar back on? Then what? A step at a time. And I'm not going to turn this thing to 2400--period. 2275 and 93.75% and that's it. ..

Moving from E1 to E2 would be where i start.

Why would you want to go to expert? I personally don't get it, you can get plenty of speed with the intermediate settings. The only advantage I can see is if you have slow servos and don't want them to move as far. The stock paddles suck too imo. They're pitchy in fff and don't handle wind all that well. I just put the rjx 30/50 carbon paddles on and they made it fly a lot better. Just as fast as far as cyclic goes and it will doesn't pitch in fff hardly at all.

Some of us don't even find advanced quick enough :)

I used to have a set of Align black CF paddles on mine with the 340mm flybar on intermediate settings. I found it what I'd call "steady" on intermediate settings. Very "graceful" (well as graceful as could be with old dumba$$ on the sticks). I have been running 2250 hs and always felt it lacked that beastly capability for which the bird is well known. I switched to the advanced settings all around, and switched to the 300mm flybar, and also replaced the Align carbons with KBDD's and found very little noticeable difference until I really banged the sticks a bit. It still hovered, flew circuits and such with no real noticeable difference. I now believe folks about raising the headspeed. With my three position flight mode switch in set rpm mode on ICE100, I still have 2200 on Norm, and 2300, and 2400 on ST1 and ST2, respectively. I intended to unleash it a bit today, but lacked the nads to give it a go in the wind we had. It was gusty from my back, and I didn't like it, so I came home. Next time out, I hope to really see the difference, and I believe it will be the hot setup. It all depends on what you want of course. I swear the heli could do F3C on intermediate settings at 2250. It hovered and tracked like a bigger bird and was very good in higher winds. I expect with 2400 it will be a little hot for me at first, and be pitchier in wind.

Capi, Just give him a link to your article on setting up the Outrage head,
OP: you can also search for a post by Nexgen on how to set up the Gaui 525 head, it is pretty similar.

The OP is asking for which head setting to play with, not link lengths.

Go FBL! I am sure it can outperform any 550 stock head setup.

Put the 300mm flybar in with some SWE paddles, fast as the "roadrunner" and smooth in FFF :YeaBaby:
