I posted this in the centurey forum too, but I don't know how much overlap there is.

Who is running emolis on a Swift, and which chargers are you using to charge them?

I am in the process of buying a Swift, and I am at a loss as to which charger and balancer to buy.

Is ther any reason why one couldn't use the Milwaukee V28 Charger to charge a 7s pack? Has anyone ever tried?

Thanks,

-A

there have been people using v28 to charge 7cell pack. RCG had a thread on setup/mod. otherwise, you can use just about any lipo charger on v28.

another option is A123. www.slkelectronics.com has lipodapter that will allow you to run nicad charger with it. I am running 10S on logo 10 and swift.

Sorry Askman, I am unclear, are you running 10s A123's or emolis? Also, What motor are you running on the swift with a 10s, I am trying to decide what motor to set up with for an eventual AP ship. I woudl rather spend a little more now, and have the power later when I need it.

Thanks,

I have been using an Astro 109 and a TP210 balancer for my 7s emoli’s with very good results.

I am running a123. 10S a123 is similiar to 8S lipo I run 600kv motor at 1800rpm. for 7S emoli, you can run 600-800kv motor. gary will soon have latest zpower z50-600 in couple weeks, which will be perfect. z30-800 is also a possibily. otherwise, there is neu or tango.

Do you guys charge emolis as li-po or li-ion? I have always set my pocketlader to the li-ion which is 4.15v Is it acceptable to charge them at 4.2v instead or will it damage them?

emoli is good to 4.2v. a123 can handle 4.2, but recommend 3.6v. I charge a123 to 3.7.

I run a Swift with 7s eMoli's. Been charging them with TP 1010 charger and the 210 balancer. Works great. My motor is the Century 600 with a 10T pinion. I've got an Askman front mount and lift a Panasonic LX1 camera.

Other than the camera mount everything is stock - no fancy upgrades. The whole setup works very good and my flight times are about 7 minutes on new eMoli's with 1 minute reserve. Flight weight is 7 pounds 12 ounces.

I can usually recharge a used battery in the field in about 25 minutes using the TP1010/210 setup.

One of the best sites I have found... with explanations of the differences between eMoli's, A123's and LiPos is at www.slkelectronics.com

Sid Kauffman (SLK) manufactures a great gizmo called a LiPoDapter, that allows you to safely charge up to 6 of the above mentioned cells... using a "conventional" charger. I use it with a Robbe Infinity II on all three types of packs..... but even you aren't interested in his LiPoDapter, check out the tech specs and testing that he has done on these batteries. I think you'll find it educational....
