Hi,

I have a question here about the KDE tail upgrade... this one i am having should be version 1.. only one flanged ball bearing on each side...

The things which i don't understand is...
1) Please see the picture... after install the screw onto the grip.. the aluminum control link can slide out  is it like that ?? Safe to use ?

2) It stated that need "Apply Bearing Retainer" one the side of the flanged bearing..
eh... is it like that? can it hold on to the spinning of the grips ??

Anythings not right ??

Please advise .. .!:nanabobo thank you

Bearing retainer will hold it fine, been flying with this upgrade for quite a few months now with no problems.

Does it really improve performance over the stock bits or is it just stuff to tinker with? If so, how is it noticeable?

personally i would not trust bearing retainer imho, but i would turn the flanged bearing the other way.i have the v2 and have had no probs zero slop no matter what i try.

I got the KDE tail upgrade on mine and love it, makes the tail butter smooth and the extra radial bearing in the blade grips eliminates any kind of slop.

I've got QUK tail grips which include the extra radial bearing. But I've still got those plastic bits between the blade grips and the slider. There's room for improvement in that area.

Global I had the same worries that you have when I installed the V1 upgrade that you have in your picture. I used it for a few flights and decided to replace it with the V2 that they had just come up with. (the one that they should have done in the first place)
That function back there is simply too important to entrust to a bit of adhesive and the goodwill of the gods.
If I were you I would not install it and would look for the “upgraded upgrade” which has two flanged bearings on both sides.
Or you could stay with the original ones and replace them after x flights. (x will be determined by you depending on how hard you fly and how tolerant you are to some slop)
Don’t believe that the upgrade is a cure all you will still have some slop but it is smoother.

Hi, Thank you very much to share your experience... i gotten it installed successfully and flying with it now ... pretty fine as for now..

Like what you mentioned.. with a bit of adhesive (Red Lock) i really don't trust it... i used CA instead..

Will take your advise to upgrade to the upgraded... V2, but feel a bit of wasted, never use and throw away. :arggg:

Thank you !

The force on the arm in flight pushes the arm out against the flanged part of the bearing so there is no risk of the arm coming off in flight. The bearing retainer just holds the outer case of the bearing in place so it functions correctly.
The v2 kit offers no improvement over the v1 in respect to what the upgrade was meant to achieve,to remove slop from the tail linkage. It just seems safer to have 2 flanged bearing instead of one, and I would imagine this is all that forced KDE to change to the v2.

Just tried to mount my links and one bound on the bushing end and both links bound a ton when I tightened the screw on the bearing end?

Took them off.
