I went to IRCHA SE last weekend and Ralph Dalusio had an aluminum X-Cell Custom, circa 1991 there. It brought back a lot of memoriesof when I won the '94 NATs in Lubbock, TX with a similar model. It was an aluminum bent frame X-Cell Custom with plastic servo tray, OS 61 SF modified with a ST60K carb, Hatori 2 piece muffler, Futaba 9202 servos, "modified" Futaba 153BB gyro, tube drive, TG Select S 690 blades at 205 gr. lexan canopy painted in a red, orange yellow, white fade, Futaba 9Z with R129 receiver, it was state of the art at the time, but no governor or HH gyro. You had to set up pitch and throttle curves, then set up the rev mixing to help hold the tail. This model morphed into the X-Cell graphite, then the SE, then the SE99. This is basically the same model as the X-Cell ST that MA currently sells as their base model but the ST has stacked frames rather than the bent frames we loved to hate.
