What do you guys do for breakin of a new OS .37?

for ANY 2 Stroke motor.
Just run it a little bit rich and fly. you want it rich, but still able to get up to operating temp.
Do NOT break it in cold and sloppy, all you do is ruin the life of the motor that way.

Ringed engines its nothing but a waste of fuel.
ABx engines need to warm up to operating temp to break in otherwise the taper at the top of the piston will smack the piston and rod everytime it comes to TDC unless it heats up and expands properly.

Nitro Heli-enignes have rings?
Why the difference between them and nitro car engines?

I just got the recent issure of RC Heli and they have a break in procedure to follow. Im gonna use that. Basically idle tank 1. Then Hover 3-4 more, still really rich. Then start leaning and doing FF.

Well, my question is
if you have to break in your engine I guess that is a brand new one which in that case they normally come with the instruction manual (at least mine did) why not to follow the manufacturer recommendations?
If it didn't come with the manual why not look at the manufacturer web site?

I've always followed os engine's recommendations. afterall, engineers designed the engine and made the break in instructions.

Most nitro heli engines are ringed, such as the 50sxh and hyper and many others, there's a few that are ABx
They run in a harsh environment and the ringed engines tollearate abuse better than the ABx engines.
Speedfreak its slightly rich, not very rich to break in, again, these engines need to warm up to break in properly (not over heat), anything else just extends the break in process and wastes fuel.

This should answer a few of your questions about breaking in a new engine.

Only VERY recently have they actually started updating thier instructions for motor breakin.
The OS instructions for the Hyper tell you to do almost exactly what i posted earlier.
Really rich is BAD. slightly rich is good. Anyone that tells you different doesn't understand that it can only breakin properly at the temperature it's supposed to run at.

oh well, is my engine destined to live a short life? Actually i don't really follow my own advice. I was alittle h urried to fly so I just ran it a little rich and flew the snot out of it!
