I have used a Thunder Power 4200 MAH (3S2P) pack in my HeliMax MX400. The MX400 is about the same size and weight as a T-Rex 400/450.

The pack was heavy but, it could deliver very good current so, the heli performed quite well. I normally got about 20 minutes of mild figure-8 flying.

The pack was damaged in a crash so, I disposed of it. I don't run anything greater than a 2200MAH (Thunder Power eXtreme) at this point. I no longer need very long flight times as I am beyond the learning to hover mode.

So, to answer your question, you should be able to run up to 4200MAH with comfort. Just don't expect to through the heli around in radical 3D. Also, getting a neutral center of gravity might be tricky.
